not a good idea. Less money for govt expenditures.
if the VAT on oil is abolished, that's good news to consumers. if may also translate to reduction in prices of other commodities. the government is afraid or hesitant to lose some revenues, but the money saved by consumers because of the removal of VAT is still going to be used by consumers to buy other things that are vatable. in effect, the revenue lost due the removal of VAT still goes back to the government.
during these times, people are tightening their belts to cope with the times but the government spends money like crazy. with less revenue and scarce funds, it might teach the government to also tighten their belt. i doubt it though.
