The truth is astrologers are different from fortune tellers, and most fortune tellers are charlatans, while astrology is a science that deals with the reading of the position, magnitude, nearness and the proximiyt of the stars.

I think, the author used "astrology" for horoscopes, fortune tellers, card readres and the likes.
