why dont u just subscribe to cedega for only 5$ a month (i guess that also includes the upgrade) then ask some linux enthusiast in your area and ask them to install it for you so approximately u will only pay less than 5K ... i guess

CEDEGA is under AFPL!! (Alladin Free Public License) so its free to use. Any derivative work that is based on a GPLed Wine is by itself must be available for source download, and Cedega happens to be a derivative of wine. Read the license carefully from here: http://www.transgaming.com/license.php?source=1

It may not be GPL, but you certainly can download and use it. The only problem though is you have to get it via CVS and you have to compile it from the source. For newbies, this can be a pain.

1. have cd copy protection detection.
2. have point 2 play

What you'll get with the paid version of CEDEGA is Point2Play and a lot of other services ...

Point2Play is cool ... But I would not spend another $5 a month just to have it. I have my own scripts for launching Cedega on my games.

The sites where they can be downloaded is immaterial. What is material are the files downloaded. What are they? Are they legal? Are they pirated? Those are Linux platform related files which I believe can be used freely and shared so long as you don't sell it for personal profit to the detriment of the original creators. That's my plain understanding. You are a linux buff yourself -I'd assume, why don't you dowload the files and see for yourself the signatures whether they are compiled from sources or traded by pirates.

I just provided here the links for our brothers and sisters to experiment with and no intention of harm on my part to Transgaming.
