Pascal, coz it taught me programming.

Java... goodbye C#.net
Just wondering... is there a good reason why people still write desktop business applications? aside from existing legacy apps that need to be maintained.
Web apps run on one server, one instance, no desktop installation, no licensing headaches. Open a browser and it's there. Your users could be in Mabolo, Manila or anywhere in the world.
Just curious ok. Not trying to start a religious war or anything.
Desktop apps will still remain in the years to come.
Some disadvantages of Web apps:
- Reliability and availability. If your server or network connection goes down, your business will go down as well.
- Latency. No matter how large your bandwidth is, latency issues will exist if packets need to travel half the globe before reaching its destination. Web apps are unsuitable for applications that require real-time data (with certain exceptions, of course).
- Efficiency. It can't speak to the hardware (it can, but not very efficiently). Even with web apps running on local network and on modern hardware, you will notice that it is slow.
- Mobility. Can you run a web app on your laptop while having a vacation at a remote island?
