symbolic? bro/sis please read again GENESIS 6 and you can see that its not symbolic.
of course they can't have sexual intercourse with the daughters of man because they spirits (Hebrews 1:14) so in Genesis 6 angels took the daughters of man so in order that to happen is to have a flesh and Angels has power to do that. Spirit and Flesh can't mate so it follows flesh to flesh.

and if its symbolic according to you so please give me the explanation of the bible (not yours).

yes, i'm perfectly sure that they have no gender...why? because when we talk of gender it pertains to a body. God has no gender bec. He is pure spirit, same as angels...they have no bodies so they can never have a gender.


let us remember that angels are spirits, so that means they cannot have feelings that come from the senses like lust since they don't have bodies. but of course they can feel envy or jealosuy bec. this comes from the mind. so it's not logical to say that the angels took the bodies of man and had physical contact with the women.

First, my definition of angels- a spiritual being or a high celestial being
that is created by God essence or energy with the sole purpose of looking after God's creation.

In my awareness, angels are not only recognized by Christianity.

Although they are called by different names in other religions,
they are recognized as wise and loving beings of light who work with us from another plane of existence.
Hindus call them "devas" or shining ones who do work similar to angels
Buddhists call them "diva" described as spiritual beings with light emanations
In Juadaism, "malachim" or messengers of God

Minsan kase we get confused with the beings that help us as angels...
Sa pagkakaalam ko at experience at pag-aaral sa paranormal and the occult & spirituality
Iba ang multo, iba ang engkanto, iba ang spirit guides
In essence, may common sa lahat (kasama tayo) ...which is energy...iba ibang levels nga lang
ghosts is made up of etheric/astral energy
elementals are made up of elemental energy
angels are made up of spiritual energy
Humans ay made up of those three...that's why we are called a tri-part being
in new age parlance
Im posting this just to give emphasis on the SPIRITUAL aspect of angels

kapag nagmimisa ng Sunday 6:30 pm
my friends of different faiths flocked to this church when I told them about it
and they indeed all saw and experienced angelic energy

What they looked like?

sa makati-- white, floating, para ngang may pakpak pero light lang talaga na may form ang nakikita ko
i felt some presence standing too...and yes naexperience ko rin na parang dumami un boses namen
habang kumakanta ng ACTS

meron parang tao na mahaba buhok na sobrang puti
sobrang tangkad
meron namang maliit na lumilipad na maliliit na balls of light na parang matatabang butterfly
meron ding parang ball of light lang talaga sa ere sa taas ng altar
basta sobrang tingkad ng liwanag nila, its hard to look straight at it...

ano pang naexperience ko about them
how would I know if it's angelic?
aside from sobrang tingkad na liwanag, there's always music
sobrang gandang music na parang Handel's Halleluiah except kakaiba ung voice and tunog
para bang bumubukas ang langit kapag naririnig mo ung music na iyon
hard to describe eh...no words could suffice the ecstasy when you feel their presence

another observation,
sa mass, kapag kinakanta ung Sanctus, Sanctus (Holy, Holy)
dun sila hyper! they dance and flutter with the beat of the song
I dont know if that song is a tribute for them kase parang ang saya saya nila kapag un na ang part ng mass
tapos kapag itinataas na ang ostia and wine,
dumidipa sila..(ung mga korteng tao na angels sa likod ng mga sakristan)
try nyo magsimba dun just to have first hand experience.

sa mga nakaexperience na ng angelic presence...
hindi ba life altering iyon?
it makes you wanna cry out of happiness and joy
your being would only feel love and nothing else...no doubt, no fear, no anger...
just love...then out of that feeling...happiness and joy!

But they sometimes show as male or female
Sa Bible, Gabriel was described to show as female
whereas sa Koran naman, Moslems recognize a male Gabriel ('Jibril')
the one who dictated the Koran to the prophet Mohammed

At the question regarding heirarchy,
St Thomas Aquinas was the one of the earliest people to make a classification system on angels
called the TRIADIC HIERARCHY na may sub-categories pa according to role
For those na interested...eto ung alam ko na heirarchy
1st sphere-(pinakamalapit kay God) Seraphim, Cherubim, & Thrones
2nd Sphere- (planetary & angelic)Dominions, Virtues & Powers
3rd sphere- (working closest to mankind) Principalities, Archangels & guardian angels

On the issue on Fallen Angels
According to st. Thomas Aquinas, 'fallen angels' like Lucifer were created perfect and pure beings
pero nag-exercise ng free will (not all believed that angels have free will)
being free to love God
but they are not capable of committing sin on their own(apart from pride and envy)
but they are guilty of leading humankind to commit sin
In other accounts of fallen angels, they will also be judge on judgement day

Personally, I think angels 'fell' because on envy of humans
specifically, the human experience on earth (elemental & etheric)
while at the same time, maintain our connection or likeness of God by having a spirit
and for that reason, Lucifer, has been known to tempt us to tap more to the etheric & elemental aspect
such that humans may get "disconnected" from God...just an interesting thought.
