If you say kwarta, it means you value material things more.
If you sa honor, it means you value material things less.

I don't smoke, drink liquor etc.
So I don't need money.
I only earn enough to survive.
And that to me is enough.

I got into the same debate and I answered the same thing to them.
I was running a chess club in Sanciangco a few years ago.
One chess player, a master caliber, played chess with his buddy.
Normally they would debate while playing.
It is a stategy to take the opponents mind off the game.

So Mr M. insisted that money is the most important thing
since dili makaon ang dungog.
I argued that money can be lost and stolen from you but honor will last even when you are long gone.
He said, look at me I played chess and made a living with it.
If I had valued honor,
I would be a master now by winning tournaments
and noone would play against me anymore and I wont make money anymore.

I said, di ba you played against Eugene Torre before?
He said Yes, I beat him.
So you played better than Torre that time. He said Yes!
See, Torre now is a Grandmaster.
He is given honor by our President.
He is highly respected by all chess players.
Infact, he is receiving P1 million a year just for being a grand master.
