@king1, what do you mean by hiss, sagitsit ra? or hait ra paminawon? or naay whine? kung hait or sagitsit ra, you may just adjust the tweeter level and slide the frequency of the tweets towards a lower number (depending on the functionality of your head unit).

bro, not to pre-empt chuck as I am sure he has his own recommendations...but if 20k ang budget then I would probably do the following.

1. front separates - 7k
2. wiring, deadening - 4k
3. 2 8inch woofers or 2 10 inch subs and box - 5k
4. generic amp - 4k

if you want to slowly but surely build up your system though, I would leave the subs as a future upgrade and then just invest my front speakers (separates). Regardless of what you plan, I suggest that you spend the most sa imohang front because your system will revolve around these speakers.

if you have a single 8 or 10, it shouldn't be a big factor inasmuch as weight is concerned but back to your question. a sub really is there to provide you with low frequency sound which sometimes can be a big factor in completing the sound image. my opinion lang. In reality, kung imo gyud tinudon ang pag deaden sa imohang pultahan, mas bugat siguro gawas kaysa sa usa ka sub.

my bad.. okay kaayo ang usa ka sub bro. deadening is not a substitute to a sub but most certainly once madeaden nimo ang imohang pultahan, dako kaayo ug tabang sa mid-bass nimo among other gains and the more bass you can produce from your front speakers the better so you can enjoy the music a bit better even if wala kay sub. Most of the time due to poor mounting, lack of a sealed space (daghan hungaw) in our doors, this creates a less than desireable conditions for your speakers. This can result to less than optimal sound.

to summarize, while ang deadening is not a substitute for a sub, mas mamaximize nimo ang sound sa imohang front speakers which will include ang reproduction of bass notes.
