inconsistent man kaayo ang commissioner sa PBA, remember katong last conference's championship, kato James Yap ug Joseph Yeo na incident, wa pud klaro ang desisyon!

yah mao jud! di man kaau to grabeh gibuhat ni James Yap compared sa gibuhat ni Leather... pero na-suspended pag Game 5 si Yap ato... ang tsismis ato gi-influence ni Buddy Encarnado (SLR Team Manager) ang polpol nga komisyoner aron i-suspend si Yap...inconsistent man kaayo ang commissioner sa PBA, remember katong last conference's championship, kato James Yap ug Joseph Yeo na incident, wa pud klaro ang desisyon!
I was rooting for SLR during that series & I was happy nga na-champion sila. Pero ang way klaro nga decision sa komisyoner was really UNFAIR for Purefoods. Losing James Yap on Game 5 might have caused Purefoods the series..

Bad officiating
The excitement of the games, however, was tarnished by some of the worst officiating we’ve seen in a long time in both games. The inconsistency of the calls was compounded by the indecision of the referees and plain and simple lack of guts.
After missing the PBA games for several weeks, we decided to catch what promised to be an exciting double-header at the Araneta Coliseum, with our spirits soaring because of the masterful performance of Filipino national treasure Manny Pacquiao in his brutal ninth round demolition of David Diaz.
The excitement of the games, however, was tarnished by some of the worst officiating we’ve seen in a long time in both games. The inconsistency of the calls was compounded by the indecision of the referees and plain and simple lack of guts.
We have often criticized the failure of referees to assert their authority on the court and have consistently been against the distressing habit of referees trooping to the official supervisor’s table to seek clarification, guidance and sometimes direct instructions.
Nowhere in the world is this done. Referees may go to the officials' table, meaning the timekeepers et al, to clarify a point but never the table of the officials, supervisors, and in some instances rather sadly, listen to instructions from the Commissioner himself.
· This is a no-no but we saw this in all its glaring reality our mind conditioned by what we saw earlier in the as Vegas fights when fight fans were kept waiting by referee Joe Cortez for what seemed like an eternity to decide on whether or not to disqualify Humberto Soto for what was perceived to be a rabbit punch which is illegal in boxing. Cortez and Nevada State Athletic Commission officials huddled for several minutes before ultimately deciding to disqualify Soto which was, to put it bluntly, a travesty given the circumstances and to award the interim title which Manny Pacquiao had earned with distinction to a born loser Francisco Lorenzo.
· Lo and behold during the first game between Alaska and Magnolia, we witnessed the same thing which, if referees Mario Montiel, Jess Ferrer and Raymond Maurillo had any sense of the game at all, would have never happened. A sixth foul was called on Alaska import Randy Holcomb with three-tenths of a second apparently left on the game clock. Considering the physical nature of the current PBA games, the foul was in our judgment a tacky call made by a trigger-happy referee who enabled Magnolia to win the game by one point off a Mike Cortez free throw. If our colleague Reuel Vidal’s report that "the referees went to the TV monitors to determine if a foul was called" is accurate, then to put it in the language of the young generation – it sucks!
With the score tied and neither team being truly deprived of victory by a non-call any sane referee would not have blown his whistle unless it was a clear foul that simply had to be called. The smartest thing to do would have been to let the game be decided in overtime. But then, expecting this level of smartness from many of our pro league referees is honestly expecting far too much.
The issue was compounded by the inordinate delay in deciding on the time remaining and back-and-forth consultations with the officials supervisor and review of the TV tape.
The second game between Barangay Ginebra and Talk N’ Text was marred by incredible inconsistency and highly questionable calls. To think that the three referees assigned in the Ginebra-Talk N Text game were supposedly class ‘A’ referees – Boy Cruz, Joey Calungcagin and Throngey Aldaba. Firstly, why was there a need to suddenly assign three alleged Class "A" referees to a game when it was not even a championship? We hate to say this but it raises some serious questions of integrity which we hasten to add is in our minds "the quality of wholeness." Based on what we witnessed, if these three gentleman are considered Class "A" referees, God help the PBA.
