History books tends to be authoritarian, dogmatic, shove-in-to-your-face information. The bible is more ambigous, therefore better.

Considering for sources, better the bible than history books, the latter is full of BS. Atleast the bible you have an avenue for better interpretation, history textbooks, gods knows theyre adept in fiction writing.
Its not the bible as the source that you must be concern about, but rather, your interpretations on it.

    cheers!

    To junmar4:

Sir, i think there is a difference between a History Book and a Historical Book. dont you think so? according to your presumption to convention, which do you think is better suited as a description to the Bible, the entire thing, a history book or a historical book? what do you think Sir?

World history does not write. According to Hegelians, its the idea that moves social reality. According to Marxists, its the economic production. According to Agoncillo, the Malolos gathering was a revolt of the masses, according to my professor it was not the masses it was elitist most of the signatories were middleclass folks. According to Constantino, msot Rizal teachers err with having Devotion without Understanding.

Different sources, but there is no such thing as an according to World History, because even the First Mass in the Philippines is debated by National Historical Institute. What more with World history and its width?

During the Marcos era, a historian was even being criticized for a narrow one-sided perspective on history. if you read some history textbook in that era, one person would come in mind immediately.

so there is no such thing as according to world history. people die, because of religion, because of the plague, because of domestic violence because of donkey accidents and what ahve you. The focus is on GOd because of the times but it is not necessarily God.

    cheerS!

still it doesn't change the fact that the GOD of the old testament bible is anti life, racist, encourages slavery to name a few. hehehe....

Now if we have a god like that only the JEWS will survive today. tsk. tsk. tsk.

John 14:27 I am leaving peace with you. I am giving you my own peace. I am not giving it to you as the world gives. So do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid.
