What's your take sa catcher in the rye?
    what do you mean take?

    my own understanding..
holden (the main character) have issues with people around him..To me it added to the plot, since the whole plot really was him dealing with himself, and society, and that just showed how he didn't really fit in, and how he hates everyone. But if he just went out there and started sleeping with hookers and older women and nuns, then the book would be less substantial to me and not as captivating. i can relate especially on my college days! and at the end of the story, 'twas really touching, the book was about a guy who's lost in some ways and don't know what to decide and everything (just read it, i recommend it REALLY)..

Hi, Solidus! Where did you buy your Twelve Kingdoms copy? I love the anime and would love to read the series and other books by Ono Fuyumi.

20 All Time Favorite Books in 2 parts.
    (1 of 2).

    1. The Great Gatsby - F. Scott Fitzgerald. My favorite book of all time. I love this book because it didn't end like I wanted it to end. I so wanted Gatsby and Daisy to end up together. But thinking about it now, two shallow people like them; it couldn’t have ended any other way.

    2. The Hobbit - J.R.R. Tolkien I included this instead of The Lord of the Rings simply because this is when I first fell in love with middle-earth.

    3. The Catcher In The Rye- J.D. Salinger. I am Holden Caulfied. No, not really but that’s what I was thinking when I was reading the book. I was a disenchanted, angsty, slightly depressed, moody teenager and this book just spoke to me. The relationship between Holden and his sister is both sweet and heartbreaking.

    4. To Kill a Mockingbird - Harper Lee. If I have to pick the greatest, most noble, most heroic fictional literary character, I would pick Atticus Finch. A real hero is someone who risks everything for what he knows is right with his dignity, convictions and self respect intact.

    5. Anne Frank: The Diary Of A Young Girl - Anne Frank. I read somewhere saying that "you cannot really grow up until you've read this book." I whole heartedly agree.

    6. Of Mice and Men - John Steinbeck. Short, simple but amazingly well written. There's not a single wasted word. A great read for people who don't like to read.

    7. The Crucible - Arthur Miller. Cautionary tale about the dangers of following the crowd and losing your individual freedom to think.

8.The Good Earth - Pearl S. Buck. Rags to riches tale but in the unDisney-fied way. If you’re not happy with yourself without money then you will never be happy with it.

    9. Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen. Who doesn't love a great love story with a happy ending. Release your inner girly-girl and swoon over Mr. Darcy.

    10. Lolita - Vladimir Nabokov. Disturbing subject matter, but is written in a way that you feel sympathy for the one who you would least expect.

    11-20 Later.
