bro davies, kindly read this but we don't expect you to accept this:

    Catechism of the Catholic Church

2132 The Christian veneration of images is not contrary to the first commandment which proscribes idols. Indeed, "the honor rendered to an image passes to its prototype," and "whoever venerates an image venerates the person portrayed in it." The honor paid to sacred images is a "respectful veneration," not the adoration due to God alone:

Religious worship is not directed to images in themselves, considered as mere things, but under their distinctive aspect as images leading us on to God incarnate. The movement toward the image does not terminate in it as image, but tends toward that whose image it is.

Saint Charles Borromeo Catholic Church of Picayune, MS

And who made those explanations? your saints? are your saints better than the one wrote or compiled the Bible? Why man jud naay images? dili na pwede mawala? those graven images are made by humans, kung si kinsa kinsa lang ga buhat ana. after mapalit sa market, luhod luhuran? OMG... and can you explain to me what happen to Quiapo, the devotion to NUESTRO PADRE JESUS NAZARENO, isnt it worshiping? dont you think graven image yung gina prosisyun ug gina praise ninyo? please explain to me... thanks.

    PEACE!

Long before, there were already denominations or Lemans term "branches" of the Christian Faith, but their names were based on the places that they were in... this is clear on the Letters of Paul... He actually grouped them according to places and enumerated their focuses, their strengths and their weaknesses...

    1 Corinthians 1

1Paul, called to be an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and our brother Sosthenes,
2To the church of God in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus and called to be holy, together with all those everywhere who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ—their Lord and ours:
3Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

    1 Thessalonians 1

    1Paul, Silas[a] and Timothy,
To the church of the Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:
    Grace and peace to you.[b]

Which is kind of like what we have today... we have the Catholic Church which branches out to Roman Catholics, Eastern Orthodox Church, Independent Catholics, Liberal Catholics and Lutherans... same as the Born Again Christians which branched out Protestants to the Baptist, Adventist, Evangelical, Pentecostal and much more...

But we have to remember, where this all started... When Christ came down, showed us His love, died for your sins and rose in victory... as He rose to the heavens, that was also the birth of the Christian faith when He finally gave to the apostles the great commission to let the whole world know who Jesus is...

when you ask a Catholic if your a Christian or a Muslim, i think you know what your reply would be... you definitely say, I am a Christian, a member of the Catholic church, right?
Hmm... I'm new here. @arubinkun, I'm thinking you are from the Lord's Recovery based on your post? My mother and my two sisters go to that church.

I don't care unsay unyong ampoan---
    --as long as, nag-ampo mo.

    Walay problema na.

Bisan unggoy pa imong ibutang diha.
Sa India bitaw baka man ilang ampoan.

Pero pwede ra sad baya magampo nga walay ludhan o atubangon.

Depende ra jud na sa imo.

Dapat respetohan nato na sila kung unsay ilang gusto.

    Lainlain man gud kada tawo.

Natural lang nga managlahi atong pagtuo ug kinaiya.
Busa normal lang nga lain lain ang atong paagi sa pag-ampo.

    Ok thanks r3roble.

    Just want to share this:

On May 31, 1606, the first group of the Augustinian Recollect missionaries landed on the shores of Manila, bringing with them from Mexico the life-size image of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ genuflected under the weight of the cross. The image was enshrined at the first Recollect church in Bagumbayan (now part of the Rizal Park), which was inaugurated on September 10, 1606, and placed under the patronage of the glorious precursor and martyr, Saint John the Baptist.

The uniquely Filipino devotion to the Black Nazarene...........

Kulay ni Hesus is black? and some idols puti sya... what is that? and can anyone tell me why ginapraise ang NUESTRO PADRE JESUS NAZARENO? i have seen it sa TV, grabe... people are crying, kissing the idol, praising, singing.... Its worshiping i believe.

    PEACE!

Sorry bro, a Sola Scriptura advocate like you is a Bible fundamentalist (please don't confuse it with extremism). There is nothing negative in it. Please don't be offended by the term. If you want to know a person who is well versed with the Bible, I can refer you to rcuman and company and also Puritan. You can listen to them because they too are Bible fundamentalist aka Sola Scriptura advocates, they are well verse with the Bible. Anyway, I will just call you a Sola Scriptura advocate instead of Bible fundamentalist if the latter term offends you.

As i have said i am a sinner, im not perfect BUT i did accept Jesus Christ in my heart as my saviour, HE is the center of my life. I maybe hypocrite if i will only say i only love HIM. I love other people aside from Jesus, my family, my friends, and people who cares for me. I know Jesus Christ will understand that. If i were to ask, where i will go if i will die, of course i will reply automatically to HEAVEN. who wants to go to hell anyway.

and about that verse, its up to God to judge if i am doomed or not. HE is a merciful Father. i maybe be a sinner BUT i know im a good person. is it wrong to love your parents and siblings also?

Again, to clarify things, i am not a Bible fundamentalist. I was once a RC, but theres a lot of practices that i dont found in the Bible. I know the Bible, I know some verse BUT i am not well versed or expert when it comes to it. tell me who is a well versed person here about the Bible then i will listen to him.
Its very crystal clear bro and we as Catholics already aired our side, but did you listen? You forced the issue on our throat that you use the Bible as a measuring stick to show us how wrong we are, and when I used the same measuring stick to show you how wrong you are, you didn't even care to explain your side. You just said, God is merciful, he'll understand and you only burst out with emotions. What if we will use the same answer you gave us?
Yes, we venerate and respect images, but its up to God to judge us, he is merciful and understanding.<---Don't we have the right to use this convenient answer too?
Now, i will ask you, if you think it is crystal clear the verse you shared to me, how about the basic verse that i am always posting here, do you think it is more crystal clear? Here it is:

Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." -- John 14:6

    (Exodus 20:2–17):

I am the Lord thy God ,
who have brought thee out of the land of Egypt (Mizrahim), out of the house of bondage.

Thou shalt not have any other gods besides me
Thou shalt not make for thyself any graven image

(carved idol) or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; thou shalt not bow down to them or serve them; for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, punishing the iniquities of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those that hate me; but showing mercy to thousands of generations of those that love me, and keep my commandments.

Isnt it more crystal clear to you? It is one of the basic commandments from God. Why are some people cant understand and dont follow that. Is it not clear to you guys?
This has already been explained. Our faith hinges on the authority of the Cat-holic church.
If you are not a Bible fundamentalist wherein you dont base your own faith sa Bible alone, so can you site me where else? your leaders? your priest? and where they get those spiritual nourishments?

    PEACE!
