There are many saints known and unknown, all of them worthy of respect.
I respect anyone who is above and greater than me. Lets just take an example, St Theresa of Calcutta, she is above and greater than me in terms of achievements. I don't think I can even equal her in achievements. So she has all my respect. St Peter, though he chickened out when he denied Jesus three times, died a martyr, crossified upside down. I don't think I can even do that, so he has my respect.
Your welcome bro
all of those who are of Christ bro, especially those who are doing His work are called saints, may they be alive or dead... all of us who believes and have been saved are all saints in the eye of God...
the word saint has been used in the bible to identify Christians alive or dead...
Acts 26:10
And that is just what I did in Jerusalem. On the authority of the chief priests I put many of the saints in prison, and when they were put to death, I cast my vote against them.
2 Corinthians 1:1
Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, To the church of God in Corinth, together with all the saints throughout Achaia:
Ephesians 1:1
Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, To the saints in Ephesus, the faithful in Christ Jesus:
you too can be a saint if you have accepted Christ in you life... you dont have to be place on a pedestal by anyone to have the word Saint annexed to your name...
do not be proud that you are a Catholic... do not be proud that your a Protestant, a born again, a Pentecostal... but instead be proud that you are a Christian... that you are in Christ... be proud of Christ for He is the foundation of all Christian denominations... Religion does not and will never be able to save you, Only Christ can save you by your faith in Him and nothing and no one else... not your Mary, not your saints, not your rosaries, your Sto. Niņos and most especially, not your Pope or Pastors...
John 14:6
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Ephesians 2:7-9 (New International Version)
7in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. 8For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9not by works, so that no one can boast.
but that should not be the case why not just stop at Jesus bro... period... the thing is bro, when you say it like that, it is like you are correcting Jesus on what He said on the verse... right?
the verse never said bro nga "No one goes to the Father except through Me(Jesus) and no one goes through me except through Mary and the saints..." I don't think the bible said that bro... correct me if I am wrong...
i'd like to repeat the verse...
John 14:6
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." no one else bro, not Mary, not the saints, not the pope, not the pastors but ONLY Jesus Christ ALONE...
Now, you might say nga, I'm trying to shove this down your throat... then I will not apologize bro, because I am trying my very best to let you understand what the basic thing here is... I can sight many verses but all these verses will just say one thing... do not ask anyone else when you pray, because there is only one that you can expect the reply from... that would be Jesus...
ang gipasabot ana nga thru mary, to christ,
mao nga nanangpit ta ni jesus, ug ato nga gihangyo si mary nga
isangpit pud ta niya sa iyang anak.
to christ na gani, unya thru mary pa jud.
paspas pa kaysa text message imo prayers ana.
i understand your point bro... and you are right the bible did not say it so.
however, i can't anymore explain to you why we Catholics do this, i just followed it on faith...
although most of the time i prayed alone i prayed directly to Jesus... it's only when i joined my family praying together that we (shall i say) course thru our prayers thu Mary and the Saints...
