para sa ako rani ha. this is my opinion only..

venerating to saints - para sa ako mura ra gud kag nangau ug tabang ug ampo.
it's just like asking your friend to pray for you.
And the statues are there as a sign of respect and remember them for the works
they've done for our Lord and mankind. It's serves as an inspiration for us not just
    mere idols.

    Exodus 20

4 "You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. 5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, 6 but showing love to a thousand {generations} of those who love me and keep my commandments.

Remember, this was from the commandments that God has personally given to Moses. I have seen this on the walls of some churches, I hope you understand the full meaning of it...

You ask, "which of our prayers would you say is praying to the saint", then let me tell you, who do you ask if you are in need of financial help, who do you ask for help when you are sick, who do you pray to when you are celebrating a fiesta, who do you mention more in praying the rosary... if you know all these, then you should have your answer...

    of course bro, we understand.

heres our explanation, but it's ok if you will not accept this (taken from Catechism of the Catholic Church):
Saint Charles Borromeo Catholic Church of Picayune, MS

2132 The Christian veneration of images is not contrary to the first commandment which proscribes idols. Indeed, "the honor rendered to an image passes to its prototype," and "whoever venerates an image venerates the person portrayed in it." The honor paid to sacred images is a "respectful veneration," not the adoration due to God alone:

Religious worship is not directed to images in themselves, considered as mere things, but under their distinctive aspect as images leading us on to God incarnate. The movement toward the image does not terminate in it as image, but tends toward that whose image it is.

    bro advise lng ha.
dont just rely on what your doctrine states without investigating if everything written is clearly abide the Scriptures of Jesus Christ.

we always do what we think is right or best to follow but remember,
(Isaish 55: 8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.)

let us always refer to the Word of God not by any men unless proven by Holly Scriptures.

    confirmation:
Acts 5: 29 We ought to obey God rather than men.
PSALMS 118:8 It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.

many catholic practices are not found in the Bible.
    peace bro

how can you effectively investigate if the answers are not written?.. if we just rely on one source how about the other ideas flying in the vastness of space nga kung pwede palang ta kuhiton gikuhit nata?..

for us RCs it did not contradict to the commandment unless you think that the images is God himself.. but that is not the case it was well explained already by mr. r3roble..

Not found in your Bible.. coz the bible you use is not the one catholics uses. the first official bible of the church "Latin Vulgate" has 72 books. not 66 books that you are using.

i'd like to quote you on this part "The honor paid to sacred images is a "respectful veneration," not the adoration due to God alone". wouldn't that be something that God will not approve since its like you telling us that your veneration to these others are made because God cannot take the spotlight alone but he has to share it with some else?

second point... "The movement toward the image does not terminate in it as image, but tends toward that whose image it is." That means that if you pray to Mary's, Saints and et all... it is indeed towards what the image represents which then takes you back to the first commandent

2 I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. 3 "You shall have no other gods before [a] me.
4 "You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of ANYTHING in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. 5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, 6 but showing love to a thousand {generations} of those who love me and keep my commandments.

wouldn't that be contradicting what God has said... and remember, that chapter starts of with

Ex. 20: 1 And God spoke all these words...

I dont know about you but if God spoke all those words, who am I to contradict them...
