Default 2 Inputs on 1 LCD monitor

Most LCD monitors have two inputs, 1 analog (VGA) and 1 Digital (HDMI/DVI).

What happens if you plug 1 CPU on HDMI, and 1 Laptop on VGA? Will it ask you to choose and input like A KVM switch or one will override the other, if the latter, which one?

i used to wonder the same exact thing, im using the digital input for my pc and the analog for a cable box (im using my monitor as my tv also) before i always turned one off before i turned on the other cause i was afraid both signals at the same time might fry my monitor or something. but then i discovered by accident that my monitor had a signal input select button and i just had to activate it from the monitor setting menu. so now i can have both devices on at the same time and just by the press of a button select which one i want the monitor to display. very convenient really. your monitor may or may not have the same option. i suggest you read your manual.

All modern monitors have a button that selects which input it's going to take the signal from if you have multiple inputs.
