simple recipe for bringing your flash off camera

take a flash and mix in one trigger to taste: ir, radio, extra~long sync cable...

prepare 1 gorillapod with slimline attachment for flash and
top off with the flash-trigger mixture

you may garnish with a flash diffuser if desired

serve on roof tops, banisters, chair backs, branches, signposts, etc...

hi tangadsangig! I've used the SLR Gorillapod with my 300D (which I think is bigger and heavier than a D80)
and it works well. there is a more heavy-duty version.. the SLR-Zoom Gorillapod.

    see more details here....

gotta love open sourcing... here's the development of a wireless trigger
possibly cheaper than eBay triggers but just as reliable as PocketWizards:

now if only I finished my electrical engineering degree

    INSTANT WATERPROOF STROBELIGHT

Take one reliable airtight food container...

a reliable brand would be lock'n'lock or biolock (shown above). prices range from PhP 150 ~ 200
depending on size and shape. throw in one flash/battery powered strobe with radio trigger.

take one handy saltwater fishpond... if you just happen to have one

tested the setup for leaks (should've done that before I placed the gear in) and if strobe triggers...

by jove it works!!! the top of the container was about an inch below the water surface.

but unfortunately when dropped to a lower depth...

...the light wouldn't trigger. guess the radio waves couldn't penetrate the water. weak batteries
maybe? I haven't changed the batteries after shooting a 3 day event. modify the radio set with
a more powerful antenna? an engineer I consulted suggested try one that's coiled. and what if it
was a more reliable radio trigger like pocketwizards?

at least I've already got a nice setup which can withstand splashes and accidental dunks. though
being able to light underwater was the main goal. any ideas? one thing I'm considering is to just
use a direct cable... but how would I have it coming out of the container without leaks?

well something to give our brains a good whirl
