point 1
you come to dubai on a visit visa with the implied understanding that you will only be VISITING the country. thus, you will not be allowed to leave by immigration if you don't have a return ticket. You are NOT allowed to work while on a visit visa. Thus, if you decide to go to Dubai to look for work on such a visa then you are basically taking a personal risk and the government has no business with you. The fact is, you were SUPPOSED to return to the Philippines after two months in the first place.
point 2
Kish Island is a free zone in iran where people can live and stay without need for an iranian visa. The purpose of going to kish is not to evade the authorities but for the simple reason that your visit visa has expired at which point you are expected to leave the country. You don't need to go specifically to kish but you only need to go somewhere aside from the UAE. (remember, you were SUPPOSED to go back to the Philippines after your visit.) People go there because 1.its cheap 2.you don't need a visa 3.iranians speak tagalog better than they speak english 4.filipino food is served there 5.It's also less of a hassle to go to kish as many travel agencies exist for this sole purpose.
point 3
A visit visa takes between 1 hour - 1 week to process depending on how busy immigration is. normally if you leave in the morning you can come back the next morning or in the evening. People get marooned on kish island because when their visa runs out they risk going to kish even if they don't have money in the hope that some kind soul will help them instead of just going home. There in kish they work at menial jobs, fish in the sea or find other means of income just to get by. Some women resort to prostitution just to get by as A day in kish will cost you a minimum of 500php. It's sad but It's a risk they took and the consequence is something that they will have to live with. After all, they brought it upon themselves.
point 4
People get stuck on kish for a longer period if they wait for employment visas. a visit visa costs around 3600pesos but an employment visa can cost up to 100k for the employer and may take time to process. Thus, some may stay for as long as a month waiting for their employment papers.
point 5
Filipinos here in dubai live in a sort of broad spectrum interms of lifestyle. The lowest paid filipinos earn about 12000-24000 but the more highly paid earn upwards of 500k TAX FREE. It really depends on your qualifications and on how you market yourself in the job market. The job market here is very competitive and you have to stand out in order to get recognized. It is because of this that you may have to arm yourself with experience and good credentials before coming here as people come here from all over the world looking for work. Companies basically have a LOT of choices when it comes to manpower. Companies here however recognize University of San Carlos, La Salle, Ateneo and other known universities in the Philippines. A degree or being a cumlaude of any of these would certainly help.
point 5
Salary is not really a question in coming here. I was earning roughly 30-40k in the philippines as a clinical instructor and still I came here for greener pasture. I'm earning a whole lot more now working in the AbuDhabi Police Department. I had only one year of experience and as of now I'm still 22 which i admit was a big handicap as i tried to convince interviewers I could do the job better than other people who were applying for the same job and who were twice my age. Thus if you do intend to come here, i recommend applying online BEFORE coming over. sites like naukri gulf, monster gulf, jobsme, emirates and charterhouse offer good positions. salary ranges can however be extreme. Nurses for example can earn from a minimum of 36000php to a median of [72000php w or w/o free house] to an extreme of [200+k php with all expenses paid e.g.house, water, electricity etc..] depending on where you work. It all depends on your qualifications and your risk appetite. Why settle for 15k when you can potentially earn more?
I too have had my share of hardships like waiting 4 hours for a bus, spending 9 hours commuting from point a to point b, walking 5km in the noonday sun, eating oatmeal 3times a day 7 days a week, being discriminated, having no place to live in, and countless other hardships which I'd rather not mention. I lived a very comfortable and pampered life in the Philippines but as I've said, it's a risk you have to take and without risk, you really can't expect to profit from anything. There is no such thing as a risk free investment. Dubai is unique because of its tax free status. everything here except the houses are cheap. you can buy a decent car for 60k php. ordinary filipinos drive landcruisers (one costs 5million in the philippines. here, it costs 1.8M-2.5M depending on the grade). There are a lot of opportunities here if you only know where to look and the courage to persevere when faced with failure. I hope I've been of help in clarifying a few misconceptions about working here. PM me if you have further inquiries. Thanks.
