Yes, this is true, in fact i'm an online worker... working as executive assistant, pero bag-o palang gyud ko ani . .. I have around four friends who are working as web developer, and one of them is earning like $2,000 per month.

I actually browse jobs at craigslist.com, wherein there are a lot of job offers, just be careful, investigate and discerning, because there are scam.

I also tried odesk.com... they offer a lot, but it's bidding...

My suggestion before you jumped in are the following:
1st- Assess your skills which you can work conveniently, something that you have mastered na.. you really have to be skilled in your area.
2nd- Make sure that you can commit your time, most specially if you are a newbie and your client is in U.S. or foreign country, adjust time and body clock. If you get used to call center or graveyard, then better.

(Depende man gud ni, there are clients that will offer project-based, for which you can choose your time, but in my case , US office time ako, duna time in and time out)

3rd- Choose an environment that's best for you, like low-noise area.
4th- Of course, you have to have a broadband internet...
5th - If you're using a family computer that everybody would use, I would suggest that you have to talk with your family members, to schedule your time of computer usage...
6th- (this might be self-explanatory) But make sure you know how to use VOIP like skype, ym or any messengers.. hehehe . Mostly, these are their means of communication

    I hope this will help
