not to be goryo about it but that statement "GSIS has no plans to wrest control/take over of meralco" was given out before the annual stockholders meeting. He was only asking for MORE EFFICIENCY, MORE TRANSPARENCY, AND MORE ACCOUNTABILITY with the purpose of LOWERING DOWN RATES. and one best way to do it is TO CHANGE MANAGEMENT (or shall i say MISMANAGEMENT) and the MONOPOLY of the Lopezes. di diay ta gusto ana? kinsa gud intawn ang dili gusto ana?

"Winston may have failed to oust the Lopezes from the management of Meralco but we have to thank him for trying. (TAKE NOTE) Were it not for the noise he made about Meralco, this utility would still be merrily doing what it has been doing during the pre-Winston Garcia era—overcharging its customers.

(TAKE NOTE AGAIN) The Lopezes may still control Meralco, but they will be less cocksure now, their shenanigans having been exposed, their activities under scrutiny, and the laws and rules under which they have abused their privilege with impunity being reviewed. Most of all, the eyes of the public have been opened to the fact that for decades power consumers were being abused by Meralco. Customers now know that they are not getting the true worth of the money they are paying Meralco. Most of it is lost in the “systems losses,” in Meralco’s own electric consumption, in Meralco’s income tax payments, in the fat pensions of Meralco executives, in the overpricing of electricity and supplies bought from Meralco’s sister companies—all of which are charged to its customers. Each consumer’s power consumption bill is doubled because of these pass-on charges.

(TAKE NOTE AGAIN) Also, Meralco subscribers now know that the biggest power distribution company in the country owes them billions of pesos that should be given back to them as refunds, as directed by the Supreme Court. And that they cannot now be forced to pay deposits for electric meters. It is our hope that we now have more enlightened and vigilant electric consumers."

"before" and not after kay mao nay iyang game plan... to give the Lopezes the impression nga wala kunohay siyay interest himan-himan diay to iyang gipa stop through SEC ang meeting kay ga takilid iyang diskarte.. now that there's a TRO for 60 days, he can do something else like propose to GMA to lower the tariffs on our oil/gasoline/crude imports kay ning "bati" man kaha siyas mga pobre.. he will be the first "cebuano" to make these things happen and i would be mightily proud of him if he can do that.. then he can convince GMA to repel EVAT kay sa tinood lang wa may improvement atong nasud.. ang mga pobre samot man hinoon og ka pobre kay kanang EVATa na ga dugang-dugang lang nas kalisud nato especially karon in times of crisis..

of course, that is, kung mao gyud na iyang agenda - to alleviate the sorry plight of the consumers... Meralco or otherwise.

the SEC order is another matter. SEC didn't order to stop the meeting but to stop the votation of the board. It is well noted that gi question ang pgpadagan sa "proxy votes" sa mga Lopezes. Ang blema lng is questionable pud ang SEC order ky kulang sa date of issue ug sa nipirma. thus the 60-day TRO...but even so, SEC or no SEC, it can't stop Winston from doing his objectives.

the main thing here is THE TRY. this is what makes us decide if proud ba ta or dili ni W.Garcia about this Meralco matter. And i agree w/ Neal. it is not something to be ashamed of, but instead welcomed and thanked for.

so asa man diay ta ani? diskarte ni Winston? or diskarte sa mga Lopez?
