what if Winston did not stir the issue? what if the senate did not investigate? mas gusto ka ana?
it's good that he stirred it, but then he wasn't just satisfied stirring 'em, he wants to cook 'em.. lol

well, with any new computerized systems as big as GSIS's, they are subject to fine tuning.

i can't seem to rebutt ur argument coz u r just banking it on ur own speculations, and not FACTS. well, naay gmay facts like ur mention of SEC docs but it doesn't justify anything that ga-conspire ang GSIS ug SEC to control Meralco. IT WAS ONLY A CLAIM by Meralco, and not formed into a fact yet.

if u say GSIS is interested to control, it may be possible, but for SEC, that's not their job. they only see to it that corporate entities are in their right place and follow SEC procedures, especially those in the stock markets.

ug kung ibutang ta lng tinuod gyud nga interesado ang GSIS to takeover Meralco management, well, fine. Matira lang ang matibay. Ana man gyud na. Naa pa man gani mas grabe kanang gitawag nga HOSTILE TAKEOVER. That is why business is business. Survival of the fittest.

"to cook" other than "to stir", "desperate to wrest control", "maniobra ni winston"...those lines di pko katubay with them...sorry. Purely speculative pa as of now...

and the news that way mahims ang SEC for 60 days against Meralco...would it benefit the people? I don't think so. Only the Lopezes would.

i maybe speculating and you may be right... but my opinion on this matter is actually a very basic one: a conspiracy to bring down the Lopez/Meralco through the concerted effort of the government agencies involved and their "barkers." simply put, personalan nani ilaha and by hook or by crook, they'll wrest control bisan wa nagka dima-o ilang mga argumento... but then again, unless this comes to a conclusion, everything is still speculative

well, actually that is a good conspiracy theory u got there. it might hold water in the long run, or just remain a theory. who knows...

my take on this issue is:

I don't care how they do it (by hook, but not by crook),
    (1) As long as electric prices of Meralco goes down at least by 10-20%.
    (2) As long as the issue of "systems losses" will be ironed out.
    (3) As long as unjustifiable VAT on systems losses will be abolished.
    (4) As long as Meralco's management will be more efficient and transparent
    (5) As long as Meralco's alleged anomalies will be finally concluded as myth or fact.
    (6) in the effect of (2) to (5), hopefully Veco would also competitively reduce their rates and both (Veco & consumers) will learn from Meralco's case.

In the first place, it is not the lopez's or meralco for this matter to blame alone... remember who lobbied or wanted the oil deregulation law, the EVAT etc., isn't it the same group of the administration?(ramos-arroyo, lakas"kurakot" bla bla coalition). Now who caused these prob in the first place?

And yes its true government needs tax to run the government...but where are most of these taxes go? to overpriced government contracts, ghost projects, etc., again!!!

    NOW,

    your Four-Way Test:

Of the things we think, say or do

    1. Is it the TRUTH? (government diversionary tactics to take attention away from the real issues)
    2. Is it FAIR to all concerned? (that ordinary citizens are the ones suffering from these rising prices and all).
    3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? (expect paka.)
    4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned? (YES to all allies of these administration, the more they stay in power.)

i have a question about this system loss... isn't this something that should not be charged to the consumers because this is something that the consumers have nothing to do about... isn't it also something basic that if there is something wrong with their system, it should not be charged to the customer, like the money back guarantee that some companies are actually implementing because for me, this is a failure for them to serve their customers properly, and now they want to charge us for that? I think that is just absurd...

and yet these charges (or overcharges) had been there since GMA became president pero nganung karon paman siya (sila) naka huna-huna og pa imbestigar? well, sa kadaghan niyang mga issues about corruption left and right maayo kaayo ni nga diversionary tactic sa iyang mga spin doctors and at the same time get back at the Lopezes by wresting control over Meralco... how convenient, eh?

system losses charging shouldn't be pass to consumers cos it is not our fault nga daghag pilferage. wa pa nay apil sa ilang mga freebies sa ilang mga employees nga libreg kurente og uban benefits pero ari sad diay ipasa ang bagu nato.. kuhaan sad unta nila ilang ginansiya!

SYSTEMS LOSS is like if u r in a manufacturing firm w/ a PERCENTAGE WASTAGE of raw materials. It can't be avoided but only MINIMIZED. Now, in manufacturing lingo, it is called PRODUCTION WASTAGE and should not be no more than 10%. Otherwise it is unacceptable. Therefore, your production efficiency needs to be improved and should try to fix the problem.

A perfect analogy is the garments factory. U cut the textile according to the shapes & curves to make into a dress. of course, there will be wastage. But it is how u plan to cut the cloth in order to minimize wastage.

The systems loss should have been 10% at most, 3-5% being the ideal. if more than 10%, there should've been a sounding alarm that something is wrong. Like in the semiconductors industry, there is a "tolerance sensor" that is being put in place w/in the system in order to tell the machine operator that the machine is producing products efficiently and within tolerable limits. THE TERM IS CALLED QUALITY CONTROL & ASSURANCE. and i'm perfectly sure that most of us here forumers who worked at least in a factory knows about this.

It is noted that Veco has around 10% systems losses while Meralco is way more than that.

and u know what, it has been discovered lately that Meralco PASSES ON TO CUSTOMERS ALL THEIR EMPLOYEE'S LIFETIME PENSION. wow! i think it is not allowed by law but they did it anyway. no wonder their rates are that high...they would surely get in trouble w/ that.
