50c is just high for an idle cpu.

my Athlon 5200+ X2 normally runs idle at
Core0: 28c
Core1: 19c - pretty cool huh?

i think your proc is a bit too hot because idle pa lang duol na sa limit. for sure kung load temp na mulapas jud na. i have a C2D E6600 at stock speed on stock cooler. my temp out-of-the box is 38C idle and 49C load temps.

Sa akoa system E2160 overclocked to 2.7 using AC Freezer 7
Case Temp: 40 idle; 55 load
Core Temp: 33 idle; 48 load

sa akong temps. at first abi gani nako init kaau ni akong
htpc din okay raman diay. ilisan nako ang center fan imbis katong
free na sunbeam ako ilis og Silverstone na FM83 WITH fan controler
then ang usa naa sa vcard duol FM83 JAPON.

put aftermarket thermal paste and check it out again.

best way to cool it down is buy a 3rdparty aftermarket cooler like TR120 or a Zalman9700

i am using a e6700 with zalman 9700led with stg1

idle temps at 50-60c (at stock speed) depends on the time of the day

reason my home is almost hot as hell in the afternoons.

now its 29-32c
