also tried norton systemworks,... its OK,... im not realuy satified wit it,... but it does take time to load,.. whn u turn on ur comp.

next amma try pc-cillin,....

wat other anti-virus software are there (but mcafee)

norton - can't detect trojan and worms unless you run a third party software like running ad-aware that's the time norton detect trojans and worms........

Avast! - well this software can do the job well in detecting virus, i like this software 'cause when you boot up to windows it will automatically connect to avast server and download new virus definitions very fast.... and effective...

PC-Cillin aka Pinicillin - good in detecting but corrupting the files that are infected when you fixed it.... not recommended...

mccafe - very good in firewalling but uhmmm still hackers can lurk in the network...... hehehehe

kapersky - good in detecting but not yet tried......

is that AVAST for free like AVG?

Avast is really 100% free the Home edition, dowload the software from avast website www.avast.com then register on their site to get your key no need to pay something, check your email for the key....... when you boot up windows it will automatically connect to server for virus updates... but if you have no internet you can simply download their definitions with 1.44Mb disk.....

If only Nod32 is a freeware it would be the best Antivirus around. Highest detection rate in my experienced compared to:

Norton
Pc-cillin
Mcafee
Kaspersky
AVG
Avast
Antivir

Nod32 why do u say dat it would be da best if it was a freeware??

i just install'd Avast Pro Edition V4.6,..... 1st thing i noticed was start-up load time was fast,..... datz all i can say for now,...
i'll put my review'z,... whn im done scaning my files,.... and goin' online,... and see how it is,..

i think wat matters is,.... who does da better job in doin' it,.... wether its free or not,... coz ifs its not free,.. theres always a crack for it,.. a serial,... a activation code,.... (and dont tell me shiet like,.. dats not right,... i already know)

who does da better job at scanning,.... detecting,.... qaurantine,... updating (daily update or whnever theres a new virus found,... automatic update)
