PC connectivity
most NOKIA phones have PC suite connectivity via cable, irda, or bluetooth.
on the phone side you may need to select pc suite mode when connected to the pc.

pc suite support may be needed to be installed in the phone itself for full functionality.
to do this, in pc suite, just click help and select "reinstall pc suite support on your phone" while phone is connected to the pc.

always update to latest pc suite version for best compatibility and features.

Backup and Sync
did you know that with most new nokia phones (N series and E series) you can sync your data from one phone to another phone via bluetooth/irda without a PC.
all contacts (including photoid and all fields) and calendar data all at once.
this feature started with the 9xxx communicator series were its easy to upgrade phones by migrating data from the old communicator to the new communicator without the aid of a computer.
unlike sync via OUTLOOK...99.9% of data and fields are copied (depending on new phones capability

both backup to memory card and backup via pc suite are highly recommended to be done regularly.

Get Connected
although most phones connect automatically to the pc and drivers are loaded right away as long as pc suite is installed, its best to use Get Connected at least once on each nokia you intend to use with pc suite. why? because some phones lack certain support that pc suite is now capable off. there are features that will only be installed when using Get Connected. unlike "reinstall pc suite support on your phone" than can be found under help on newer PC suite version without Get Connected icon, go to settings and select "add more phones"

only on the later 6.86XXX versions (like the link i posted above) but if user uses older ones like those that come FREE with their units (e.g. 6680) then it wont have auto update.
thus its best to install latest version by checking.

CDs that comes with auto update version of pc suite started with n76 i think...

example situation:
user has 9300. plans to upgrade to a 9300i with wifi. installs the pc suite from the cd to the computer. (of course it works on the 9300) but since the pc suite version that came with the 9300 doesnt have autoupdate he didnt bother to check latest version. makes a 9300 full backup via pcsuite on his computer. trade's in his 9300 for a 9300i and when he goes home realizes the pcsuite version backup can't be restored to 9300i.

this could have been avoided had he checked the latest version thats compatible with both 9300 and 9300i
or had he made the sync from 9300 directly to the 9300i via bluetooth during the trade in...
