The OS should not be the major part of the use of a computer. It is the application that one uses.
But some users feels the OS the most important part of the computer. They even think more "eye candy" the better.
And M$ exploits the gullibility of these "clueless" users and releases new OSes every few years and even stops support of old ones just to sell the new.
WinXP or Win95 can still run your CAD, word processor, spreadsheet or even games. The OS is just a task switcher and the environment to let them run. Linux btw is much better but too complicated for these users and some games does cannot run on the environment except for some special software patch (CEDEGA) that enables them.
M$ does this marketing trap to make more money. I think this is "evil" and we should learn to use an alternative.
This is the last thing I'm going to say this, but most problems are either hardware based or user based if it isn't legacy software. If it is legacy software and it hasn't been updated for Vista, then it isn't Vista's fault. You can't expect software that was tailor made for an operating system years and years old to work with a newer OS. No operating would do that. Apple is notorious for just dropping support out of the blue and Linux is no better. Don't come here and say "Vista sucks!" ... tell us why it sucks.
eh, MS has the longest support for their operating systems. I don't know of any other major desktop OS that supports their desktop OS as long as Microsoft ... no Linux distro or Apple. And M$ exploits the gullibility of these "clueless" users and releases new OSes every few years and even stops support of old ones just to sell the new.

Wont be going back to XP anymore![]()
Id like to see you use Win95 and its old drivers to run your favorite CAD/word processor/spreadsheet/games. You could prove me wrong though by using software circa 95.Originally Posted by cold_fusion
Sounds more like apple if you ask me.Originally Posted by cold_fusion
