arrange icons by...so annoying

guys, have you ever encountered in winXP where you try to arrange icons in the 'open' dialog box...its originally arranged by name, then i tried to arrange it frequently by date modified...and now, i just can't get it to arrange by name again each time i try to open a file (file > open > 'dialog box with lists of files and folders)...it gets so annoying since i find it more difficult to find the folder or file because its all jumbled in the list....aargh! can anyone tell me how to work around this problem?

i can't bro...Auto Arrange is grayed out so i can't click on that option....i tried to look if there's an option in Control Panel > Folder Options regarding file arrangement in Open Dialog Boxes but i can't find any...also tried to restore all folders back to default at Folder Options but still, nada....

this is really getting to annoy me....

Try applying Auto Arranged next to Arrange Icons by: inside the path (folder) of your icons not in the 'open' dialog box. tis works for me.

bro, i tried but its still grayed out...i just don't have any idea why its grayed out...

bro try deleting all the shortcuts icons den go to go to the software your trying to open send it to desktop try it if it works

@ edge827: you mean deleting all my shortcuts? bro, my prob is the arrangement of files in the open dialog box. all programs (word, explorer, ie, etc.) when i try to open a file, the files are all arranged by date modified. i cannot tick auto arrange because its grayed out so everytime i try to open a file, the list is arranged by date modified....and it becomes a lot more difficult to locate that file because its not arranged by name...

try experimenting bro... TRY THIS: WinKey E, then go to Toolbar click View, select LIST then under ARRANGE ICONS BY by select NAME... experiment lang bro.. wala bitaw maguba ana...
