    Default Thin Client as Gaming/Chat terminals for InternetCafe?


    Is this possible?, AFAIK, Thin Client has limitation, but will it be possible for it to be used in gaming?, any inputs... im planning to install to my home office..

    depends on (1) how powerful your host is, (2) how many thin clients you connect to your host, (3) network speed, and (4) type of game.

    problem sad ana kay kung down ang host, down tanan.

    thin clients... pwede raman online games but has limitations lang ( ie. storage ) around 14T depende sa specs without monitor.

    online games example: www.miniclips.com mao rasad akong nasulayan.

    but you can search google.com for more info about thin client.

    i found something that can run 10 terminals with just 1 PC!!!

    it's called DiscoverStation, http://userful.com/products/discoverstation, most of it's part is already available here in cebu or manila, except sa software...

    how about this:

    CPU Proc: Intel Core 2 Duo
    MotherBoard: ASUS P5S-MX SE
    Memory: 1G DDR2
    Video Card: Built-in for now, im still looking for a compatible card that are also compatible to Ubuntu, possibly NVIDIA
    HD: One 80g SATA, Two DVD ROM/Writer (1 is connected thru USB cable), Two 40gig (both connected thru external cable)

    how many clients do you intend to run?
    thin clients do processing at the host side so given the above specs maybe 1 or 3 PCs lang, depending on what apps are run by each client. increase memory and storage. btw, hdds connected via usb are too slow for secondary storage...

    yup i just notice it, too slow, i just used it for backup anyway, no application will be installed... im planning to have 8 to 10 terminals..., probably i'll upgrade it if necessary...

    possible applications/service that would be used is internet browsing and games....

    2-3 ra kaya ani.... depends on what games/applications/ etc.... you ran...

    for 8-10 terminals,
    an 8core XEON
    8GB RAM
    500*2 RAID 0
    True 1000mbps lan capabilities
    plus ( 1gbit reliable switch)

    with these basic specs, kusgan na kaayo bro.

    everything thats intalled sa server/main terminal is accessible to eveyone.
