Mayor Lim's son released after posting P400K bail - PDEA

MANILA, Philippines - The son of Manila mayor Alfredo Lim was released on bail Wednesday afternoon, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said.

PDEA-Metro Manila Regional office director, Senior Superintendent Benjamin Magalong, confirmed the release of Manny Lim, who was arrested and detained for alleged drug pushing, trafficking and drug use.

He added that the younger Lim, , was ordered released after posting a P400,000 bail.

The Manila trial court had originally set the bail for Manny at P600,000 but it was later reduced to P400,000.

Lim was transferred from his detention cell in Manila to the Philippine National Police Crime Laboratory to undergo medical examination before being released.

Lim and a companion were arrested on March 14 at the Pharaoh Hotel in Sta. Cruz, Manila during a buy bust operation.

The duo allegedly yielded around 100 grams of metamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu.

PDEA spokesman Derrick Carreon said the agency’s hands are tied if the court has already ordered the suspected drug offender’s release from jail.

Under the existing Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, persons caught with more than 50 grams of shabu cannot post bail. - GMANews.TV
