Dissapointed with DVD burning technology

Why are you PSP burning games on a DVD?

I hardly burn anything for myself. For other people only it seems and maybe an ISO here or there. I burn data DVDs at max speed (20x) while copied DVDs are around 8x as well just to be sure. The only real problem is that copies of protected DVDs aren't 1:1 copies and you really aren't sure if it's going to play or not. Also Imation performance isn't very great. I've gotten a lot of coasters with Imation. Ridata has treated me the best so far if you can find them there. I bought a 100 pack of imation only to have them sitting after I switch to Ridata.

Copying Them as Back Up lang for a friend If he stores them on the PC, its about a terrabyte worth. Since he only has a 4GB MS Duo to store his games on the PSP. So he switches the games via PC.

When you say you burn your movies at 8x speed, its to take extra precautions right? Thats exactly my point. Burning technology has been their for so long already and yet we have to put up with very inconvenient adjustments, well it mite not be that inconvenient to others, but to me it is.

me, i watch avi movies, surf, or doing something else while burning (dvd@20x). no problem. writers nowadays comes with their own different buffer overruns protection implementations. but i don't copy on the fly though coz when there's error reading at the source it is always a coaster. and hey, my pc is no biggie either, it's just a p4!

ya i dont really copy pud on the fly... if the source has errors, surely you would stop there... and what your writing will stop there also.

huwat nalang nya ta ry na maabot na sa desktop nato ang disc imaging. (hope i got term right) like the ones they do on release cd's & dvd's on market. mayna kay haplak ra and we're all done.

as i understand, on the fly burning is just like an unattended mode of making an image and burning it again. it will not write on your copy
disc if it's still making an image/copy of the master. so if there's an error on the master, it'll stop there. no disc wasted.

i don't recommend "on the fly" if the pc has insufficient memory, slow cpu, slow hard drive speeds. it might not keep up with the IRQ.

no bro... on the fly burning is possible if you have two optical drive.. lets say optic drive 1 should have the source disc to be copied. and optic drive has the blank cd to which you want your disc 1 to be duplicated.

'on the fly' copies data from source disk "REAL-TIME", as optic drive 1 reads data, it sends the data to optic drive 2 and burn the data simultaneously.. (so in this case, if optic drive 1 failed reading some part of disc1, optic drive 2 should also be likely to stop since optic drive1 stopped sending data).

BUT if you dont have two optic drive, it is very impossible to do on the fly burning.

hmmm, im using LG DVDRAM burner...white DVD-R cheap cdrking discs...nero 6...
i can even play counterstrike while burning at max speeds...no problem what so ever.

btw, anyone tried nero 8? im reluctant to try it out...

ok raman ang nero 8, currently using 8.2.8.0 version. only thing i installed is the burning rom and vision program, unchecked the others.

Nero 8? dugay2x mo load.... it takes like 10 - 15 secs to load on my X2 5200, 2gb Corsair Dual Channel. but as soon as it loads... okay na kaayo... burn speeds are changed to "minimum,safe mode, etc." wla nay 8x 4x and the suchs
