    from omad:

this is the exact same response made by those who passed the Nursing Board back in 2006. why would I worry? why would I retake when it's only 10% of the whole batch who cheated? a lot of hospitals would hire me in the US 'coz it's only a board exam anyway, no worries. I should be hired 'coz I'm not involved with the scandal.

one thing those people forgot was that, they were the applicants. they are the ones who should abide by the rules imposed by the CGFNS, hospitals and clinics and not the other way around. if you don't follow the requirements, how would you be hired?

to further explain what I meant, here's part of CGFNS decision on that cheating scandal:

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. They heard the Task Force present its concerns about CGFNS's decision to deny VisaScreen® certification to the June 2006 passers of the Philippine Nursing Licensure Exam. After listening to and reviewing the concerns of the delegation, Joel and Nichols explained that CGFNS's decision was based on the requirements of U.S. law and was not subject to re-negotiation or further review.

    CGFNS Website

let's do an analytical exercise and figure out a simple problem.

you are an American HR personnel:

you have to choose between two nurse applicants having somewhat of an identical resume: work experience, academic background and result of the personal interview. all requirements have been completed and in your opinion, both have earned the job if there were a lot of vacancies BUT there is only one spot available. one problem is, you have not personally experienced working with both races (applicants came from different countries) so you don't have a clue on the work ethics of either one. one thing you're good at is that you are abreast with the current happenings/news in the medical field mainly because it's your job description. so anything related or concerning the medical community you are aware of including the cheating in the Nursing Board Exam in 2006 as well as the famous V Sotto YouTube video.

oh, I forgot... one applicant is from South Africa and the other is from the Philippines.

    who would you hire?

here you are talking about your “WORLD CLASS” attributes again but in my honest opinion, you’re far from being world class. my point was very simple yet you failed to grasp the logic behind it. reading and understanding simple comments is very vital in any given scenario may it be at the office, school or in your case: the hospital. in fact, deciphering simple instructions can make or break your career. how would you be able to provide WORLD CLASS service if you can’t understand what you’re reading or worse, you can't understand simple instructions? if I get fired for my inability to follow simple instructions then that would haunt me deep down inside and not the other way around.

the issue here is not choosing between being a nurse and “mamaligya ug kutchilyo”. how did you come up with that type of comparison? I'm just wondering again if this is one of your WORLD CLASS ANALYSIS in action? it makes me think twice what you actually mean when you're saying world class.

like I said, even before the two incidents happened, landing a nursing job abroad is already difficult and expensive as it is. what with the current backlog with US visas for nurses. another point is, not every one of those affected by the nursing exam scandal have disposable income where they can always absorb financial hits like retaking the exam again. you know first hand the scenario and hardships they’ve experienced and yet they got penalized because of the mistakes of a few individuals, which are very much avoidable like the V Sotto issue.

again, “not giving up and doing everything to make it happen” is not the issue here. it’s the unnecessary repercussions that actions of some individuals have done are making the lives of would be applicants a little harder than it is. I think the word “give up” wouldn’t even be discussed anyway if the Nursing Board cheating and the V Sotto issue didn’t happen.

again you’re comparing a totally different scenario with your Jun Lozada , Sarah Balabagan, Japayukis and Rizal examples. you haven’t even explained successfully and convincingly your point in the V Sotto topic and now you’re mentioning a lot of names, a lot of totally different scenarios, a lot of different topics. let's focus on what similar sanctions our medical health care professionals looking for jobs abroad might encounter resulting from this issue and what they can do about it.

remember, nobody in the Philippines anticipated that CGFNS would deny VisaScreen Certification to all June 2006 passers of the Philippine Nursing Licensure Exam but they did. if we talk about IMPACT, that's a very astounding example of how carelessness of a very small number of people can result to a very heavy penalty imposed on everybody including those who are not even part of the scandal.

now, are the people behind CGFNS a perfect example of having PEA-BRAINS because of their blanket denial?

people saying "walay kaugmaon ang nursing" are just basically them showing their frustrations over both incidents. it doesn't mean that it's the case literally and at the same token, you can't prevent them from saying that because this is a free country. the same reason why we're letting you express your reactions here even how far fetched your examples may be. come to think of it, these are actually very avoidable circumstances that's why the uproar on this subject matter.

people here are just looking at the bigger picture and that's not a bad thing either.

    from me to omad:

I am really wondering why are you so stuck at that june 2006 board exam? so what if CG decides to let you take again? as I said mag nurse gud kaha ka, so buhaton nimo tanan sa persons in authority para ma nurse jud ka. u think naa pay problema ka2ng nitake pag dec 06? jun 07, dec 07 ug karong jun 08? ambot lang jud nimo. im sure ur life is more than the june 06 issue MESS. ayaw intawn mig apila.

its nice u gave me an exercise to let my brain works by ANALYSING AND FIGURING some problems OUT. il take ur word for that. and i said that is reality. and it is also reality for (again!) PEA-BRAINED employers as if they are ur IDOL. they just dont bother to look at ur potentials. all they have to do is look at the sotto issue. and of course, like ur idol, they would certainly hire d one from south africa! what a great analytical and intelligent problem to solve!

u see, lots of vacancies daw, nya only one spot is available? wa ka kyapi?

im also wondering y ur so allergic about world-class as if being world-class pukes you? Why? cant u see a world-class in our midst? having an SRP? nga naay water theme-park soon? having al fresco diners sa Northwing SM ug IT park and soon sa Ayala? having a proposal to build a hiway from bogo to santander? having asia's most friendliest casinos? having to grab the most number of tourist arrivals in the country? having 40-storey building sa fuente? one of the tallest in the country! having LASIK technique to treat eye problems offered on some hospitals here that's also offered by great hospitals worldwide? having a shangrila, hilton or marriot or marco polo here? or mall of asia sa manila that's one of the largest malls worldwide? that's why we are called a developing country because we are still struggling to be a developed one. at least naay effort. just imagine kung wa ning klaseng mga tawhana. just imagine how would cebu looks like. of course mao na imong ampay, kanang mga pungko2x, trisikad, albularyo system. more scandals, more IMPACT ra imong makita! just imagine if this happens, were just near better off than mongolia, bhutan, or imong favorite MOGADISHU. at least, in my own little and humble way as a nurse, im providing the best if a not a "world class" service to my patients by making them laugh and let them feel comfortable bsan we lack the facilities we had.

also brader, i am only replying to what u r posting. as if i kud grasp what ur thinking. why wud i reply or answer to ur thoughts as if u already posted it here? unsa ko x-men? isn't this the REAL, REAL, REAL and TRUE, TRUE, TRUE logic?

yes bradeer, i compared this situation to lozada, flor, or sarah because it's the IMPACT that matters as what you want and what it should be (for you). how can there be a sanction as if the rest of the filipino med community are penalize because of that sotto incident? there should be a sanction for the doctors and nurses there ka2ng present a2ng videoha, but, are the rest of us deserve to have a SANCTION? maybe suction, suction of positive things!

brod, correct ka for people who said "walay kaugmaon ang nursing" because they are frustrated. and its normal. and you will keep on defending those kind of people because those are of your kind. birds with the same feathers lick each other. no wonder. isn't this the right time to be responsible to our words no matter what's happening right now?

i read on ur other posts bro that u supported 2 siblings to take up nursing. just imagine if ur 2 siblings no longer have the energy to work just because of the IMPACT and the AFTERMATH you are expecting? kung ako pa na, as a big brother to them, rather on dwelling the IMPACT and the ISSUE, i wud just tell to em "this too shall pass". isn't this comforting? isn't this the real bigger picture to look upon?

The doctors should be ready to face the administrative charges filed against them. Since they were truly unprofessional with their acts as seen in the video, I'd like to think they should face the consequences of their acts.

This is a wake- up call to those doctors and nurses that they should all do their duties professionally. Otherwise, it might ruin their profession.
