Personally, I know some of the doctors involved, and while they are competent resident physicians, they obviously have no regard for the privacy of their patients. As part of the medical profession here in Cebu, I am both apalled and disgusted by what they did. To think that you can't graduate from medical school if you can't pass Bioethics, which is actually covered from 1st year to 4th year! What a shame! I not only demand an apology but I wish to have their licenses revoked! This is so unfair to the rest of us who practice strict doctor-patient confidentiality, in fact cameras are strictly not allowed in DRs, ORs, in private hospitals.

But truth be told, Dr. Arias himself has already lots of issues inside the hospital. Ask any other surgical resident especially the neurosurgeons and they know... I have witnessed some of the wrongdoings personally. Leaving their postgraduate interns in the ER to handle all the patients while they slack off in their quarters for longer periods, and when they are needed, are unavailable because they're so busy sleeping. tsk tsk tsk Good thing I never decided on a residency training in VSMMC, the environment is so anti-poor.

After laboratory tests showed a spray canister up his anus, the doctor advised him to get an operation to have it taken out.

The patient recalled signing a paper without being properly informed about it and of asking the doctor to only allow members of the operating team inside the room.

“He only laughed. It was very humiliating. It was like a scene from the Carbon market,” he said in Cebuano.

Before losing consciousness from the anesthesia, he remembered someone tying his hands to the bedpost because he was so noisy and restless.

---isn't it the responsibility of the DOCTOR to properly explain what that "FORM" was all about? grabe na gyud ni, daghan kaayo violations gihimo ang doctors and nurses didto.
They're that lazy. They ask the postgraduate interns to do it, then the PGIs ask the nurses who then ask the student nurse to explain the form for them!!! I witnessed that and probably anybody there have witnessed it. Tagaan ra ug papel ang pasyente, moingon ang nurse, papirmahan bya ni ni doc, para na sa trachoestomy, or unsa ba procedure diha. Then, that's it. Worst of all, they rarely give time for the patient to think about that form. They just say "mobalik ra ko after 10 min. ha, unya pirmahi na, kay daghan pa kaayog pasyente, etc. etc.." too many excuses.. tsk tsk

if it would take an incident like this to clean up the acts of the bad apples in the medical field and finally overhaul the antiquated system of SOP's in our health and medical departments nationwide then so be it. there's no stopping this from spreading like wild-fire. it would be the hottest topic in the break rooms in hospitals, clinics and doctors' offices around the world in no time.

the sad part is, VSMMC would be at the center of the medical world map dragging Cebu's name and eventually strain further the Philippine's relationship yet again with the medical community around the world. it's a fact that the Filipino medical community around the globe haven't recovered from its soiled reputation that the Nursing Board Exam scandal in 2006 brought on them and now this.

imagine the looks of foreigners both patients and subordinates when they know that a Filipino is taking care of / working with them.

nobody likes that feeling of constantly being watched and talked about behind your back.
Shut Up! Let your GAME do the talking!
