a year to remember that was 2003 and during our 2nd anniv., the first time mi nag date sa akng BF legally w/ the consent of my sistah and that was months after i graduated college..( remember jd kaau...hahaha)

it was around a year ago just before Christmas. i finally had enough of my pointless hesitation. i sent out a message asking you if you'd accept me again. i know i was a fool. fools do stupid things and i've had my share. all because i was so afraid of being hurt again... or perhaps being hurt for the first time.

there are little children i know that are afraid of the dark because they do not want to see things in it. so afraid of something they have not even seen, that they literally fall apart if left alone by themselves. i never though that i could be so much like a child. when i lost you that was when i finally realized what i was...

yes, i was afraid of being hurt. i have read too many novels about love, heard too many friends' love stories, seen them break down right before my very eyes. told myself, as much as i can i would never want to be like that. i am mature and strong, and even minded enough not to fall into that snake pit. so i made very long wooden stakes, concrete walls as high as they could go. they were suppose to keep all else out... but they ended up keeping me in.

so one day you came and i did not notice much of you. just another face in the crowd. how wrong i was. a year later you were still with me, showing me that gem of a heart of yours. your little boy blue got confused and set to distance away...

and just in time to realize what it was. the thing that i was distancing myself was what i was needing. you showed me how much you love me by letting me go... and my heart melted, right then and there.

little boy blue is not as blue as before. he smiles now and then. the reason is that something hit him. and X marks the spot.

Butterfly kisses...
(sinulog to remember)

It was raining. Perfect.

It drizzled but it didn’t stop them to marvel the crowded street. In such a crowded place, she felt safe holding his hand. It was blissfully unforgettable feeling his embrace as she surprises him with butterfly kisses. Nothing compares to the feeling of having someone to give it back… butterfly kisses… reminiscing gives her so much reason to smile… So much courage to go on… It was a long walk but she didn’t mind. She didn’t notice. She didn’t care because from that moment, she knew… the both of them have a long way ahead. She knew she waited for the right person… finally, at the right time.



The drizzle soon became the pouring rain. Still, it didn’t matter. She never felt anything other than the warm touch from his gentle love. Everything went fast forward and alas! The fireworks began. They were caught in a stampede with people trying to catch a glimpse of the lighted sky, the marvelous display… people were pushing and pushing but she stood unmoved.. Aware of it but safely locked in his arms. It was still drizzling. She couldn’t distinguish her own sweat from the raindrops. It didn’t matter at all. Her heart glowed as much as the sky glowed. She said i love you too many times but probably she sent it directly to his heart so he could hear it. He was holding her close with every awe she gives to the lights but his embrace awed her more... his butterfly kisses sent her heart flying as she was standing still despite the uncontrollable crowd... She was so safe with him... when the fireworks ended, their hearts still glowed.. They both glowed amidst the crowd...



The long walk back with aching dysmenorrhea still couldn’t cope up. It couldn’t take away her smile. He comforted her in the most subtle way. She knew he was more tired but still he was there for her. He made her smile, giggled and at times her heart laughed out so loud behind him. She was the happiest girl that night. It was still a long night. They got to encounter a lot including a pseudo-vehicular accident triggered by alcoholic individuals bumping their unmoving car. It was funny and a little less traumatic, stressful but of some sorts, memorable. They had a lot of plans changed but her happiness that night didn’t.



When the night finally ended and when she was finally safely home, she realized her feet weren’t aching anymore, her dysmenorrhea was gone… He was her medicine… and she sleeps holding his hanky with the jasmine scent, the rain poured outside just as her contentment ebbed down her heart. She closed her eyes and dreamed of it all… The drizzle, the warm embrace, the butterfly kisses, the growing crowd, the fireworks display, the long walk home, the warm hand to hold, the aching dysmenorrhea, the motorcycle mayhem, the police station chit chat, the long wait, the late late late dinner, the most memorable Sinulog… with the love of her life… perfect. Blissfully noted and kept… a memory to last forever.

nagsinulog mi.. giuwan.. nisud mi sa ayala kay kaihion ko.. puno tnang cr... paggawas namo fireworks na.. nagstampede.. nauwanan mi.. we saw the fireworks together.. and all the kasamokan we encountered that day.. (gdysmennorhea ko, naay motor nibangga namo and didto mi sa pulis station wa pa'y kaon..etc..).. it all went well because i had him beside me all the time..
