OT: you may notice that i never used the term "laptop" but instead i use "portable". we, dell certified technicians no longer use the term "laptop" because dell portables are no longer advisable to placed on top of your lap. that is why we use "protable" because you can go mobile with it. just don't put it on top of any human part since your skin can be burned with a long exposure to the heat generated by the protable.

Some laptops dont generate that much heat and can be placed on the ... err.. lap

Kung gaming laptop siguro with a dedicated video card.. init gyud...

Aside from the specs, some badly engineered laptops tend to heat up more than the others.

'laptop' term will be with us for a long long time...

make sure the bottom of ur laptop has sufficient ventilation, don't put it on top of soft surfaces that could block the cooling vents...
and make sure ur cooling fan is actually working, if u can hear it or feel the warm air venting then it's working.
