The number of US workers applying for unemployment benefits jumped by 38,000 last week to 407,000, the highest reading since September 2005 and reinforcing fears that the US economy has stalled. H1B doesn't have these benefits right? if on bench?

They are here to work not receive unemployment benefits.

AFAIK, if a foreign employee will be unemployed he or she has to find another petitioning employer otherwise the foreign worker should go back to his home country.

As an H-1B visa holder, you can apply for immigrant status as soon as you are in the United States to avail of unemployment benefits the soonest.

Since America is composed of immigrants, if you come to think of it foreign employees are contributing more to uncle sam compared to people who are enjoying welfare just because they have a "blue passport".
