soundwise, nope. garage rock is a broad term but basically any rock n roll band with raw and abrasive sound before punk rock is considered "garage". iggy pop, the velvet underground...heck even the ramones.

garage revival is anew movement of bands aping their garage heroes(e.g. the strokes, the killers, bloc party). another offshoot is the post-punk revival which lies on gray areas of music classification. as sonic youth bassist kim gordon would quip, "we are a post-punk band from the original punks".
