is it possible to connect a VB6.0 Application to a APACHE SERVER HOSTED MYSQL DATABASE

please make any advise or tuturial....

am currently running a MYSQL Database DriveN Site with PHP platform i wanted to intergrate
query / result sa visual basic application
local to a remote "APACHE" server

rvyne: yes its possible, theres an addon module or whatever you called it in VB that can make it communicate to mySQL, I am not just very sure what was it but Im sure that there is and its possible. Just try googling, I think its where I found it.

If you want to connect to a MySQL database from a VB app, then Apache never comes into play until you want to start serving up pages with PHP. I don't do VB but I'm guessing you can connect to MySQL using ODBC. If anyone else with Windows environment experience can help you out, that would be the best.

1. Download mySQL server for windows and install it in your pc
2. Download the additional add-on for VB to be able to connect to mySQL
3. Read the manuals that comes for both, normally the manual for the addon has a sample code on how to connect to mySQL

You dont really need an apache.

or better yet, use windows SQL,Â* Im not faimiliar with windows SQL so I could not give you much input on this.

I think those are not useless, your question is misleading. I suggest you do a research on mySQL and Apache and get a grasp on both of these servers. Your initial question includes VB and now only apache and mySQL. But the your latest question is still too obscure.

I guess its better you tell us what you are trying to do, not the explanation but the actual job you want to accomplish. Are you setting up a server? do you have a website? the task that you want done and not the concept of what you intend to do. Maybe we can help you better.
