    for all health enthusiasts,

    i would recommend this book to realize there are myths our medical industry is trying to bust out:
    • hereditary diseases are not hereditary after all
    • drugs does not 100% cure; antibiotics contribute more harm
    • diagnosis is not 100% correct/accurate
    • not all required vitamins can be taken from food/fruits alone
    • getting older does not necessarily mean that we age


    the book includes a 6-week plan to improve your health

    Yes the book is sold in National Bookstore

    This is bangis' sister and I introduced the book to him. As a backgrounder, I have a mini collection of most health related books ( YOu the owner's manual, Stop the aging,One of Dr. Weir's book the title escapes me now). BUT it is only this book that has moved me to REALLY change my lifestyle and I see myself reading this 3 more times this year. Right now, I have two other books of Dr. Hyman's , ULTRAMETABOLISM and ULTRASIMPLE DIET. But after having read all 3 it is the ULTRAPREVENTION that I liked best.

    Just bought a copy for a friend in NB Ayala for less than 300 pesos (40% off the orig price, see their discounted book shelves).

    i just read thru the most interesting part of this book- the awful truth about trans-fat. It raises a lot of concern for me since a lot of local companies are promoting this into their products. My chemist friend (whom I just gave the book to) was surprised that her dietician even recommended it. My friend says it can even alter at the molecular or genetic level. The book even decribes it as the most dangerous of all fats.

    Trans-fat (synthetic fat) are altered chemically to resist oxidation so that it will give food a high shelf life. It is present in margarine, cooking oils, some mayonaise products and even bakery products.

    The book says that the key to understanding the importance of fat is that "the intake of unsaturated fats (omega-3,-6,-9) is essential and critical to the functioning of every cell in our bodies."

    we appreciated this book because it considers our health at the cellular level.......

    Other myths the book describes:
    - milk is good for you (nope it was never proven plus there are pesticides and other toxins fed to the cows that contributes to cancer, etc.)
    - eggs are bad for you (nope the folic acid in eggs actually increase homocysteine level that may help prevent heart diseases plus other nutrients that are beneficial to our bodies [again] at the cellular level)

    a recommended read for the health buffs.........

    part 2 of the book - interesting to know of 5 forces of illnesses:

    • Malnutrition or sludge
    • Impaired metabolism or burnout
    • Inflammation or heat
    • Impaired detoxification or waste
    • Oxidative stress or rust


    each has a chapter showing their effects on our health and how to prevent them.

    nice.. nice..

    just share nalang the crucial part for all to know.. that is, if you guys don't mind.

    i know a few things about omega 3,6 and 9, trans-fat, whole eggs, milk, vitamins and supplementation, etc. there's actually plenty of information about those you mentioned above in the health and fitness websites.

    anything you can add to enlighten those who do not know yet are very much welcome
