"mentality" man gud na pre. it's more on how u treat fellow pinoys...dili rana ma-espelling usahay sa talk lang. pati gestures and body language apil na...hehe

for example, naay sari-sari store imo silingan. ni-asenso nya nasuya ang laing silingan. so tua ra gatukod pud ug iyahang sari-sari...nya imagine tapad ra ang balay...hikhikhik

don't you think it's too "surfacial" to base crabbing on those criteria?

That aint still crab mentality to me. wa man ta kebaw if nagtukod pod siya'g iyaha kay nindot pod naay kompetensya. kana bitawng naa sa colon kay nag-abot man na ang manindahay diha nga halos pareho ang baligya.

i believe crab mentality is rooted on envy, jealousy, malicious intent and effort to pull down another by surreptitious means.

here's one blogger's comments about crab mentality in politics (disclaimer lang ko ani ha):

"Filipinos with Crab Mentality = Oppositionist Senators & Congressmen, Leftist, Rightist, and their cronies are working hard in creating problems, trying their best to prevent her from becoming successful. Never ending "investigation in aid of legislation", impeachment filing, etc...."---ErnestoJC/forums/gov.ph

    How about this?

The eldest sister of 3 siblings works in call center and sends the younger siblings to school. The neighbors see this. Gossipmongers as they are, they talk about and behind the sister's back and tells everybody who cares to listen that the eldest sister is a prostitute.

These gossipmongers' kids are not in school because they say, they're poor and can't afford to send them. They spend the whole afternoon playing bingo and/or tong-its.
"JUST A WOMAN? Oh honey no!

I am awesome with a splash of bitch and a dash of wonderful.

Crab mentality has been present for quite sometime already and all of us are affected of it. The main reason of this is lack or poor core values. Envy, probably the main culprit, is not that bad if we keep it to ourselves but once we start to manifest it in actions, then it's not good at all. A typical envious person would normally pull down others in words, deeds, or whatever means necessary just to make him/her feel good, at ease, or at least not to "feel down". It is human nature so to speak and there's nothing we can do with it. The best thing we can do is to keep our emotions at check and let our minds rule over our hearts because if not, what we feel would normally become our actions and we're not even mindful about it.

Unfortunately, as I've noticed everywhere, not all people can keep their emotions at check.

Yes. I made that situation up. It seems like I understand pretty well what Crab Mentality is (and how).
