220V x 2.5 amp =500 watts

Volts(V) X Amperes(A) = Power (watts)

using a 3 amp fuse your AVR will tolerate 660 watts which is over the specification.

I have blown up my 500 watt AVR once. I used the 110v outlet of the AVR I plugged a power vacuum(110V) rated at 2000 watts.

The point is. When the AVR says 500watts. you can allow a constant power draw of 500 watts. more than that it can burn.


I bought this Omni AVR servo-type 500 watts at ACE hardware SM. I did the stupid thing again of plugging my power vacuum(110v) to the Omni AVR. It has an alarm which sounded. Good thing it has a built-in alarm. I immediately unplugged my vacuum. I started to smell like burnt plastic.

So next time I got a step down power supply for my vacuum.

There are 1000watt AVR, I also saw 1500w to 2000w AVR.

I just bought a 2000w AVR. its china made so cross my finger. Made in Japan AVR are expensive. Taiwan made less expensive than japan. China made the cheapest.

Grab a 1,000 Watt AVR. its not that expensive. Goto AC/DC

How about buying this one bro? ABLEREX UPS 625va w/ AVR
or use servo motor type AVR with power rating greater than your PSU. It's the safest way because sometimes you would need to connect extra peripheral devices such as printers, scanners, and speaker systems to your AVR to protect them also.

Also be reminded that laser printers have high power rating so it is recommended if you use these type of printers, you might as well have a separate AVR dedicated to it only.

Servo Motor type AVR is better compared to I.C. controlled relay type ones because relay type AVR's produces surge current when switching from one voltage to another. Which could damage devices. But servo motor type AVR's are more expensive compared to their relay type counterparts.
