ang Dream Theater pang WOW-effect ra gyud na most of the time .. aron maka sulti ang mga taw nga "ngilngiga ani niya mo bunal uy" .... ang 311 hinuon mas maayo kay groove oriented. Pero ug gusto ka nga magpasikat sa likod sa drums, I guess paminaw ug Dream Theater - learn the chops, outrageous breaks and fills, and odd beats and forget about playing in the groove altogether.
Don't get me wrong, Mike Portnoy is a superb drummer.. pero trying to emulate his style samtang nag sugod pa ka is not really the way to go.

ahehehe... yeah its an exercise for me... hehe ^_^ also mike mangini... the 2 drummers that makes my exercise fun..!! ahahaha

but for starters.. try shadesapart, or vertical horizon.. I played them before even though Ive never tried drums

na sipra ra naku sa akong huna huna.... nya spank spank gamai sa air.. dayon pag abot sa drums set jud... kaya ra kaayo..!! ahehehe

First songs akong gi sepra was mga basic New Wave stuff (batang 80's man intawn ko... started around 1988 sa drums): DON'T YOU FORGET ABOUT ME by Simple Minds, MELT WITH YOU by Modern English, WITH OR WITHOUT YOU by U2. Sugod sa sayon.

For exercises... usually metronome ra ko ug drumpad kay nag apartment ra ko karon. Way lugar diri nya tingalig ma evict ko sa landlord ug mag saba saba. Maka bunal ra ko sa akong gamay nga kit inig ka weekend. Akong dako nga drumset nabilin sa Florida... puno na tug abog.

Pero ug mag practice ko ug mga kanta, usually mga groove man gyud akong praktisan. Mga smooth jazz ug funk kay lingaw bunalan unya lots of room to explore/improvise.

btw nindot gyud ang jazz fills ug funk.... labi na gyud ug pure jazz... fast or slow... ma lingaw ko sa beat... then nindot kaau mag mugna2x ug mga drum solos daun inig abot sa imong part nga pa solohon ka kadyot sa banda ahehehehe.... nahan kaau ko mo tukar mga ingon ana nga style...

for beginners gyud tan-aw lang mo ug mga video kung wala moi video dha... pag internet nalang mo youtube... naa daghan... from beginners to advance.... praktis ka 1 week usa ka style then lain nasad inig sunod nga week para dili boring imong praktis kung balik ka usa ka buwan ahehehe... then e sum up daun nimo tanan kung master na kaau nimo

wow... ngiga d.i U uy..!! ahahaha me not drum set.. since birth.. haha dili supported sa parents.. too bad... but I struggle to survive.. dream believe.... and sleep.... ahahaha kai nagpalabi nakog dream...!!

u dont have to be rich to own a kit. daghan barato na brand new na kits. if u can find a good condition and well priced 2nd hand set then good for u.
