The most important thing to remember in our job as academic abstractors/indexers is that we are providing a product for research. It is imperative that we make both the abstract and the headings as accessible as possible to our customers. Determine what key words or phrases would best represent the article. Avoid choosing information from the article that is either superfluous, or too general to be of any use to the researcher. Consider how the customer would search for information and whether they would find it based on what you have written.Originally Posted by tazman_cris
Our job is not simply to write abstracts and attach headings. Rather, it is to make each abstract and heading a valid research tool for our customers.
