As long as there is proper tools and gadgets for this kind of setup:

    1. Software ( or customized software, a software for playing MIDI/AUDIO/VIDEO)
    2. Remote (to control the system, maybe connected by USB port)
    3. Sound System (connected from output jack to the sound system )
    4. Monitor

That's what i think as of now. hehehe
Familiar topic.... akong brother maoy ga himo sa software being used by most Major family ktv's in manila and the ones here in Cebu. Pod 5 and K-1.

He used Delphi + C++ for the software unya the hardware kay no need for tv tuner... IR remote can be USB or PS/2 and IR interface also controls the amplifier and the service light.

Pero you got the gyst of it na.. hehe

It's a good software though, you would just need as mentioned here earlier a midi file of the song and the lyrics, arrange the cuing of the lyrics against the midi file and there you got yourself a karaoke player on a computer. All you have to do is connect your TV or if you prefer your LCD monitor to your video card and connect your sound card line-out to an external amplifier where you could connect your microphone also.

This is good bro, but I can't imagine myself arranging lyrics to 10,000 songs.hehehe.
But this is nice if there are available pre arranged songs for download from the internet.
I have seen this karaoke set-up also in Manila. For the user interface they made a program maybe from visual basic where you could browse for the song you want to add to the playlist (sorting it either by song title, artist, album, or genre). For the remote control function they used a I.R. infrared reciever connected to the PC communicating to the user interface program (computer interfacing w/ VB6) and to a customized remote controller available to the users. Their set-up also could be controlled via Lan (wow). If you are there to celebrate a Birthday party for example they will add birthday song's after your leased time expires. If your time is up the PC will automatically lock. Great set-up.

This type of set-up inspired me also. Why buy those expensive karaoke machines (magic sing, hyundai, media com, etc..) when you can use your existing PC which has faster CPU inside compared to these machines.

If naa mo link sa pre arranged songs pls post it here mga bro. Thanks.
It's not only PC vs. Custom Karaoke Machines.... the biggest difference is the sound quality. It's like comparing midi vs. mp3/wav in terms of audio quality.

Aside from the front end features u see sa system... a lot of people dont know that the system can store information about each customer.. like what songs iyang gi sing sa last pila niya ka visits... unsay iyang gi order nga food / drinks.. etc. naka database tanan.. and the system can generate reports and other stuff for mgt use. Even the ordering system, kitchen , billing and reservation system.. naka connect... so integrated gyud tanan.
