Default WHAT WAS PAUL’S "SPLINTER IN THE FLESH"?

The Apostle Paul tells us in II Cor. 12:7 that, "... there was given to me a splinter in the flesh..."

What was that "splinter?" Can we know?

Two categories have been suggested as the possible explanation: (1) A physical deficiency or disease, (2) A moral or spiritual weakness.

The Scriptural evidence usually given for the first category (that of a disease or physical deficiency) is:

Gal. 4:15 -- "For I am testifying to you, that, if possible, gouging out your eyes, you would give them to me."

Gal. 6:11 -- "Lo! With what size letters I write to you with my own hand!"

Default ngano nakasala man si adan???

we all know that adam sinned in the garden of eden by eating the forbidden fruit.

but i was wondering, was it all adam's fault? or was there a design flaw that made man prone to sin?

since God is perfect, there must be a good reason why He made it that way... when He could have designed man to be perfect as well...

    cud anyone share an idea?

Adam were created as perfect as they can be. However, since true perfection only belongs to God (being the only one who is truly infinite) we can only approach His perfection. Creation/Life is therefore an infinite journey towards perfection.

Just as a kite only rises against the wind, or muscles develop by lifting weights, so do we only develop against opposition. It is exactly the difficulty we have living on this planet, overcoming these in our lives, and helping others to do the same that we can grow inside.

Moving towards perfection means we develop all the faculties possible, and these include Love, Wisdom and similar others. These faculties necessarily requires a being of free intelligence and will (automatons can't really love or be wise), hence we are endowed with it. Now, the challenge is the proper exercise of these.

Since God don't really need us for his continued existence, what use has He of asking us to do things for His benefit? Even if we tried, everyone, each one being finite, would fall short of helping an infinite being. Therefore, whatever God commands of us, is for our personal benefit or for the benefit of the common good (including following the established universal order).

Since God is omnipotent (besides being the Creator), wouldn't it be unwise not to take His advise? It is in violation of Wisdom and Love of God not to take His "commands" seriously enough to follow it to the best of our abilities.

Considering the issue in general, if sin is defined as disobedience to God, then Adam's disobedience to God is sin, whatever it was.

Regarding the expulsion from Eden, since Adam and Eve were no longer as good a shape as they had been made, they have to reclaim their original perfection (and perhaps more), and the way to achieve this is trough opposition, hence the necessity to remove them from their easy life in Eden. Similarly, the "punishment" of Cain was to give him difficulties in order for him to have the means of "going back" or opportunities for him and his descendants to grow.

    Just my opinions.

    yes its adam's fault:

12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
    Romans 5:12

what do you mean by this: "when He could have designed man to be perfect as well..."?
are you saying that the design of God is not perfect? currently?

    PEace!

God created adam. which means the whole being of adam was designed by God. his tendencies and capacity to make choice was designed by God. granting that there is free will. but adams sinned due to his desire to be like God. now if he was designed by God, it cud mean that his desires were part of his design...

im not saying that God made a mistake... rather, that adams flaws were part of Gods design... and that He has a good reason for that...

    peace...

    Default Revelations: Literal or Symbolic

Most of the end time doctrines have been based on the book of Revelations.

knowing whether the things written therein are literal or symbolic would greatly define how we prepare for the coming of the ages...

knowing the difference will spell fear of the future or rejoicing in the joy of the Lord...
