I had the same exact problem: the game (WC3) would suddenly speed up then slow down like crazy.
Do you have a dual-core processor (such as an X2)? You may have to install some hotfixes from Microsoft and some software from AMD.

i had those issues before... and yes, i use the on-board video for one of my rigs (really wanted to test the limits of the AMD690g)... it was solved when i updated the ATI catalyst...

I followed all of them (except for setting the processor affinity, and any registry editing); two hotfixes from Microsoft and the AMD Dual Core optimizer. Read on the link I gave you. It has all the info.Originally Posted by adforce
