relgion is just another social utility for people to behave...but the problem is they don't behave what their religion tells them. keeps me, almost always, tempted to think that maybe it has now become a nuisance to modern day society than a social utility.

And so religions, to a large extent, became divisive rather than unifying forces. Instead of bringing about an ending of violence and hatred through a realization of the fundamental oneness of all life, they brought more violence and hatred, more divisions between people as well as between different religions and even within the same religion. They became ideologies, belief systems people could identify with and so use them to enhance their false sense of self. Through them, they could make themselves “right” and others “wrong” and thus define their identity through their enemies, the “others,” the “nonbelievers” or “wrong believers” who not infrequently they saw themselves justified in killing. IMO, the reason why religion invented because separation of beliefs. At first, there was no religion to begin with. Why now? Because people are by nature love to be in a group. Just like the animals, they come in groups... packs, herds, and so on... what comes down here is people are convincing that their "group" is far more better than the other. Anyone remember why when people started calling witches and warlocks and burn them in public because of religion. So as WAR (echoing boomer? or Tattva?).

I think you have both points...

but I think Religion has also its own faults when it comes to advancement... espcially when they stand in the way of stuffs like:

    Cloning
    DNA testing
    and other stuffs...

sorry I cant think a lot of things, my mind is on my Warcraft game... but you get the idea...

Yes... I also believe that thinking that.. My God is better than yours is really the problem in the first place...

What If you live your life doing what you can to give back to the world, help make it a better place: giving charities, helping people stand on theyre own... BASICALLY TRYING TO MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE... but you dont believe in religion or even GOD in that matter... Now comes the Judgement Day (if there is in the first place) - WIll God allow me to enter "heaven"?

do you believe in god?just asking. actually me (a non practicing catholic on the verge of being an atheist) and my friend, a son of a pastor had a talk about this, cause i don't actually now (not sure) if there is god or if there is heaven or if there is judgement day,and it came to the point where i asked him that question so he answered me if i was willing to sacrifice my soul in not believing and dying and knowing after if there is actually heaven or hell, and i was silent. and he said to me that "wala may mawagtang nko if ever kay i know i am doing good and if ever way heaven, its nuf for me to know that i was good and i never did harm to anybody"

so i personally think that regardless of religion or not having one, the main rule is that as you live here in this earth, we must not do bad upon people, :P

On with the OTs, lets get back to the thread's catchy topic.

Based on my religion, my answer would be YES provided that such disbelief of God was due to inaccessibility to God's word (he had lived or was raised atheist, or maybe in communistic states). Our God is a just god, He wont judge a person because of ignorance of His Laws. Now if that person suddenly found some access to the written laws and within his conscience, felt the need to follow what was clearly written "to cleave to the Church of God" (1 Tim. 3:15), yet he still holds to his old ways pretending to be ignorant, the privilege of "ignorance" is no longer valid as ignorance, ipso facto, can not be played.

Now if that person continues to play ignorant amidst the barrage of valid arguments why he must believe in God, that person could not in anyway be saved. He may be "bashed" sa kagahi sa ulo, pero wala ma'y pugsanay.
Kabahin sa imong insiniwasyon nga ang among Ginoo nanginahanglan ba og pag worship, ang akong tubag ana is YES. that's even HIS first commandment. I dont play with thought exercise anymore. My answer is purely based on my religious bias because your question tried to hope for inner contradictions of faith, which you have failed dismally

Does your statement bashed my religion to its knees? Sorry but it's the other way around.

    2. Which is more "holy"?

A person trying to do good deeds so that hell be saved (this pertains to the people who are religious) OR a person who does gud deeds for the sake of doing gud deeds (this pertains to people who are philantropist yet theyre aethiest)
"a person who does good deed for the sake of doing good deeds (pertains to atheist)", ayaw palabi ka-assuming lolz. Atheists who are into "philantrophy" also has selfish motive to be recognized. That's their source of dynamism.

Recognition, according to Hegel, is the chief motor of human history. Kun wala mo nag-apas og salvation, then klaro kaayo nga mao na inyo gi-apas bay, why cant you just admit it? ayaw lang gud palabi pag-plinastik
