    OT :

Curios lang ko kung unsa ang gamit sa cygwin? In my opinion murag lisud or impratical mogamit ug cygwin kay naa naman siya libraries for Windows and Linux.

I think kung mag-developed on both Linux and Windows OS you should recompile it.

Very easy and practical. If you are used to unix/linux commands, running cygwin in windows is a breeze. Windows CMD (dos) is very poor in scripting. And with running a terminal/bash in cygwin opens you to powerful linux tools such as awk, grep, sed, bc or even perl.

Programs though needs a recompile to run.
But with Cygwin, ALMOST ALL console programs and services in linux can now run on windows.

Without cygwin, some gnu/open-source programs may not even be available in Windows. The libraries you mentioned even be cygwin libraries that is why they are executable in Windows.
