i think Luli Arroyo has some point. naa sab unod iyang mga statements...ganahan ko aning bata-a ky down-to-earth kaayo ug attitude...but of course, she is bias to talk about FG and her mom in the first place.
this caught my attention:
"that the corruption has been built up for at least two decades, and pervades not only government but society in general, and it will probably take at least that many years to wipe it out of our system, especially when those entrenched are fighting back and fighting dirty not to be unseated."
now this caught also my attention:
"People say that there have been a lot of accusations thrown at my father, so these must be true since "where there's smoke, there's fire." My response is: Sure, if the fire was caused by ARSON."
i cant help but think. who is she referring to? JDV? the Marcoses?
[br]Posted on: February 18, 2008, 10:42:02 PM_________________________________________________yes, i also beg to disagree. marcos started all this economic problem which we now inherited and started this vicious cycle of corruption up to this day. if we see the marcoses trying to gain some political footing again come 2010, that will be a very bad sign that we are forgetting what grave sin they did to us. many of us here istoryans were just kids then (or not yet even born) and didn't even experience that dark part of our Phil. history.Originally Posted by erwin_rommel

However, during the regime of Ferdinand Marcos, the economy declined dramatically in growth and productivity as it was destabilized by corruption as he embezzled billions of dollars from the national treasury. By the time of the People Power revolution, the economy had declined, falling severely below the growth of other nations in Southeast Asia. A severe recession in 1984-85 saw the economy shrink by more than 10%, and perceptions of political instability during the Aquino administration further dampened economic activity."
