My dad gave me money everytime I had a perfect score in a test. That taught me that if I wanted money, I had to work for it. It was quite effective as a motivator.Originally Posted by LytSlpr

Question:
1. Why can't we motivate a child to return the kindness of his/her parents for sending him/her to school?
2. Why can't we motivate a child to become an achiever for what he can be to others than what he can get for himself/herself?
3. Why can't we teach the child that accomplishment (good grades etc) doesn't always come with material rewards but rather the gift of knowledge?
Actually, it would still depend on how the parents teaches values to their children... Giving money may have both PROS & CONS on the effect as motivation in having good grades... personally, i dont do that to my kids because it feels like bribery. "In situations that may arise" that the giver wont have money anymore to bribe... i mean give to their child/student, will it still motivate the child to strive hard for good grades? As much as possible, inspiring them to succeed and strive hard not only for good grades, but as well as having a good life, physically, mentally & spiritually must come from themselves... with the parents' guidance of course.
