can anyone recommend me a setup? budget is 30k for the whole cpu.
preferably DVI for the video (is the built-in video of intel mobos good enough just for playing media files?)
    must have optical spdif out.
i wont really need a huge hard drive.
casing has a limitation though, if its tower (standing) then it should be matx (height constraints). no problem if pahigda.

You dont have to go for that case, any computer case will do, and you can just get the VLSYS remote

Processore: AMD or Intel dual core atleast 2.0Gig
Motherboard: As long as naa optical or coaxial out and supports dual channel mem(only if you are going to connect it to an amplifier, if not, any will do)
Video Card: For HTPC there is no contest to ATI video cards, so use that 2xxxx series or 3xxxx series (this will give you and HDMI out with audio)
Memory: At least 2 gig dual channel.(There have been reports of non dual channel mems having decoding problems or slow downs)
