^^ you are talking about the "system volume information" folder in your system there. thats where system backups is stored. i get your point, youre pointing about a virus program is also recorded in a automatic restore point from SR monitoring, and put inside that SVI. that SVI has changing registry hives in relation to the restore point frequently made. one just have to know well on how to deal with system restore.

and fyi, i experienced that also. and not only to single virus but to many kinds, even to the latest deadly one, brontok. never it came out from its graveyard(SVI) and live again. lucky? maybe... why? all i do is to choose a restore point of which im sure that is truly clean even in SVI. you just have to reduce to the least diskspace usage of the SR for it to turn off automatically after the very earliest restore point where the system was very fresh yet, and wont do further SR monitoring activity if you feel scared of the ghost of those viruses being detained in SVI.

actually dugay na ni nga virus. lain lain lang ang name since pwede man nimo ma edit ang code and customized it for your own use.

am not a fan of system restore so i dont use it. it eats a lot of HDD space plus mo effect pud sa performance sa PC.

Steps:

1. before i go killing/hunting a virus, i usually turn off system restore. There are viruses that would resurrect if system restore is turned ON. please dont ask me why.....

2. download the latest DrWeb CureIT scanner, this is one of the best on-demand scanners available.

3. boot your PC into safemode, and run CureIT.

4. delete at will all detected virus. take note of there file names

5. download autoruns from sysinternal.....and run it. use Find to search the filenames of the virus found in step4. delete instances found.

reboot PC....if user want sytem restore....i enable it back.

to restore the regedit tools, run gpedit.msc .
