The Cebu movie people have very local focus. And this is the revival of the Cebuano/Visayan movies nothwithstanding the fact that people sometimes see them as something hilas. With the Cebu Arts Council people wanting to appear they dictate on our movie taste by bringing in Yang Zimou or Akira Korusawa or Claude Le Louch movies --- and they happen to be really good movies --- how can the local movie folks with their local focus be able to assert themselves?
I am going to watch these French films. But I will be screaming obscenities at the bitchy Cebu Arts Council people who will always be at the lobby for a show-off.
Sorry. But I just happen to be a small-town boy.
