    Default Golden Globe 2008 Winners

As I've always been so into film awards especially the Oscars, I'll be bugging istorya.net from time to time about these awards till we get to Feb.24 when the Oscar Awards will be given.

Now, the Golden Globe, one of the precursors to the Oscars, has finally handed out their winners. Sadly, due to the WGA strike, the Golden Globe this year has marked the history as the quickest with 34 minutes. Winners didn't appear to get their awards since the globes decided to have only a news conference after WGA successfully coaxed actors not to appear for the awards. I just hope this doesn't affect up to the Oscar season....

    My comments on the awards:
=> I was expecting either NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN or THERE WILL BE BLOOD to win, it's definitely better and deeper than ATONEMENT, which although has award-winning written all over it
=> I wanted JUNO to win best comedy/musical, even after just recently seeing Sweeney Todd. It's indie. It's hip. It's fun. But I think overshadowed by Little Miss Sunshine
=> I'm quite happy with the acting categories (LEWIS, CHRISTIE, BARDEM, BLANCHETT, COTILLARD in La Vie En Rose which I saw in Cine Europa last year): they're all great and deserving! I didn't think Johnny Depp showcased great acting in Sweeney Todd: he just utilized the same acting style as Capt. Jack Sparrow
=> I'm also very happy with RATATOUILLE's win, my favorite animated movie of last year!
=> ATONEMENT's win on the Original Score is truly deserved if you've seen the movie, you can attest it = most memorably the typewriter score called "BRIONY"

Well at least something came out good with this writers strike. I hope the Oscars gets canned as well. I'd actually rather have them announce who won on some sort of a press conference, rather than having to watch a boring 5 hour show.

    yeah right..
if you know the dynamics and business of filmmaking, you'd think otherwise...
as if writers aren't earning enough and as if they pay back the studios if the movies they write bomb in box office..

i don't think they'd ruin the most prestigious award that has been running for 79 years...
and i would really hate it if in case the oscars gets canned since this season's dubbed as one of the best oscar competitions with an array of wonderful films and performances from No Country for Old Men, to Atonement, to Juno, to There Will Be Blood, to Sweeney Todd, to Across the Universe, to the Diving Bell and the Butterfly, to Persepolis, to I'm Not There, to The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, the list could go on...

Well, to each his own.. c:
